Most travel in India does not need a badge on the bonnet. It needs a car that starts every morning, has cold air conditioning in May, and a boot that closes over your suitcases. That is what this category is, and for a large share of our guests it is the right answer rather than the cheap one.
The Toyota Innova Crysta is the vehicle almost every Indian tour operator runs on, and there is a reason for it. Seven seats, four large cases, high enough for broken tarmac, and mechanics in every town who know it. On the Delhi, Agra and Jaipur highways it is more comfortable than an SUV and considerably cheaper than an MPV.
We keep this category current. The Etios and the Ambassador that used to sit here are out of production, so we quote the Dzire and the Ertiga instead, both under five years old. A car that breaks down on a highway costs far more than the saving on its rate, which is why vehicle age matters more than price in this segment.

No. Toyota ended Etios production in 2020 and the Maruti Dzire has replaced it in Indian fleets, so that is what we quote. The Ambassador stopped production in 2014 and we now offer it only as a short heritage drive rather than as everyday transport, because a car that old is not the right choice for a long touring day.
A Dzire takes two large cases and a cabin bag. An Innova Crysta takes four large cases with all seven seats in use, which is why it is the standard tour vehicle. Beyond that you are looking at an Ertiga for seven with light luggage, or an MPV if the cases are full size.
For two people, yes. A Dzire on a four hour highway run is perfectly comfortable. Where the category runs out is on eight hour days across two weeks with four passengers, and that is where the Innova or an MPV earns the difference.
