Beacon Valley is located at an altitude of 5606 meter and it makes it the highest road in the world. Its stretch is expanded from Leh to Nubra valley which has an eye catching view. Due to extreme climatic conditions this highway is open only in the month of September and October. This place has a heavenly view as it is surrounded by ice from both sides. Sue to security reasons this place can only be visited with special permission.
The yellow sect of Buddhist also known as Pitambra, this Gompa was dedicated to this sect who religiously follows Buddha and his teachings. This is the only monastery constructed on river valley and offers a beautiful view for its visitors.
One of the amusing artistic marvel of Leh is the Leh Kher Palace located on height of the mountain from where one get the picturesque view of the entire town. The palace has intrinsic interiors has several hundred miniature statue of Buddha depicting various phases of his life and fine architecture outside.
This monastery has unique collection of antique arms and armature, mask collection and many a collection of images of Hindu Idols including Lord Shiva. During the peak winters i.e.; in January an annual festival known as Spituk is celebrated with full joy and fun.
Chamb Buddha is one of the sitting postures of Buddha which has its unique place in architectural point of view. Tsemo Gompa is the royal monasteries, near the palace, has two storied statues of Chamb Buddha in his sitting posture is one of the must places to visit.
The earliest period of the habitation of Leh was ruled by Stok Dynasty who left its marks on this land in the form of structures and palaces belonging to that time. The palace of this dynasty is now converted into the museum for general public where people can enjoy the remnants.
Choglamsar is a village inhabited by Tibetan refugees who for their living engaged in carpet weaving which makes this place a famous for beautiful handicraft item along with minutely crafted carpets. It is located on the road Hemis 9 km away from Leh. Monasteries of Spituk, Sabu and Sankar are an added attraction here. This place is also different because of The Institute of Buddhist Studies where interested students from around the world come for learning Buddha and his teachings.
