South India Luxury Tea Garden Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Munnar

Upon arrival at Kochi International Airport, guests are warmly welcomed by the representative of Top Indian Holidays and transferred privately toward the scenic hill station of Munnar. The drive gradually climbs through winding mountain roads, waterfalls, spice plantations, and mist-covered valleys while introducing the breathtaking beauty of Kerala’s Western Ghats.

As the route ascends into higher elevations, endless tea plantations begin appearing across the hills creating one of South India’s most iconic landscapes. Cool weather, drifting clouds, and lush greenery immediately establish the peaceful atmosphere of the journey.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury plantation resort surrounded by tea estates and panoramic valley views. Evening remains free for relaxation amidst the cool mountain climate and scenic plantation surroundings. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 2 Munnar Tea Plantation Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast overlooking the tea-covered hills followed by guided exploration of Munnar’s scenic plantation landscapes. Guests may visit tea factories and estate trails where experts explain the cultivation, harvesting, and processing methods behind Kerala’s famous tea industry.

Continue toward Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and panoramic plantation viewpoints where rolling green hills stretch endlessly across the valleys. Munnar’s landscapes become especially beautiful during morning hours when soft mist drifts across the tea gardens.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy curated tea tasting sessions featuring locally grown varieties and plantation-inspired snacks. Evening remains peaceful with overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 3 Munnar to Valparai

After breakfast, continue toward the hidden plantation paradise of Valparai, one of South India’s most scenic but lesser-explored tea-growing regions. The mountain drive itself becomes one of the major highlights of the itinerary with hairpin bends, waterfalls, forests, and dramatic valley views accompanying the journey.

As guests enter Valparai, landscapes become quieter and more untouched compared to larger hill stations. Tea gardens spread across rolling hills while forests and wildlife corridors create a highly immersive mountain environment.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury tea estate bungalow or plantation retreat surrounded by tea-covered valleys. The evening remains free for plantation walks and sunset photography experiences across the hills. Overnight stay in Valparai.

Day 4 Valparai Plantation and Nature Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast amidst the tea estates followed by exploration of Valparai’s plantation landscapes and surrounding forest regions. Guests may enjoy guided estate walks where tea cultivation traditions and plantation lifestyles remain deeply connected with the local environment.

The cooler weather, low tourist traffic, and untouched scenery make Valparai especially rewarding for travelers seeking peaceful mountain experiences. Tea workers, winding estate roads, waterfalls, and forested valleys together create highly photogenic landscapes throughout the region.

Later in the afternoon, guests may relax within the plantation retreat while enjoying tea tasting sessions and scenic mountain views. Overnight stay in Valparai.

Day 5 Valparai to Coonoor

After breakfast, continue toward the colonial hill station of Coonoor located within the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu. The scenic route passes forests, valleys, tea plantations, and mountain villages while gradually introducing the softer colonial atmosphere of the Nilgiri region.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury colonial-style resort surrounded by tea gardens and landscaped hillsides. Compared to Munnar and Valparai, Coonoor feels more elegant and historically refined because of its British-era heritage and slower hill station lifestyle.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy relaxed exploration of tea gardens, heritage viewpoints, and quiet plantation roads while breathing in the cool mountain air. Overnight stay in Coonoor.

Day 6 Coonoor Tea Estate Exploration

Morning begins with breakfast followed by scenic exploration across Coonoor’s tea estates and viewpoints. Guests may visit tea factories, plantation trails, and panoramic hill viewpoints where mist-covered valleys create dramatic landscapes throughout the day.

Coonoor’s combination of colonial architecture, tea gardens, eucalyptus forests, and cooler climate creates one of South India’s most charming mountain environments. The slower rhythm of life here naturally complements luxury leisure travel and wellness-focused experiences.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy tea tastings, private picnic experiences, or wellness therapies within the resort. Evening remains peaceful with plantation-inspired dining and overnight stay in Coonoor.

Day 7 Coonoor to Ooty

After breakfast, continue toward nearby Ooty, one of India’s most famous colonial-era hill stations. The short scenic drive passes tea plantations, pine forests, and mountain landscapes before entering the charming Nilgiri town.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage resort before beginning exploration of Ooty’s scenic attractions including Ooty Lake, Botanical Gardens, and panoramic viewpoints spread across the hills.

Compared to quieter plantation regions, Ooty offers a livelier hill station atmosphere while still preserving its colonial charm and natural beauty. Evening remains free for relaxation and overnight stay in Ooty.

Day 8 Ooty Leisure and Tea Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by another relaxed day amidst Ooty’s tea-covered landscapes and cool mountain climate. Guests may enjoy optional plantation photography walks, tea tastings, horse riding experiences, or leisurely exploration of the town’s colonial districts.

The slower pace of the itinerary ensures travelers can fully absorb the calm atmosphere and scenic beauty of the Nilgiri Hills rather than rushing between destinations. Ooty’s cool weather and peaceful environment make it especially suitable for luxury leisure travel.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy a farewell mountain dining experience featuring regional cuisine and plantation-inspired hospitality. Overnight stay in Ooty.

Day 9 Ooty to Wayanad

After breakfast, descend gradually from the Nilgiri Hills toward the forested region of Wayanad in Kerala. The scenic drive passes wildlife corridors, waterfalls, tropical forests, and spice plantations while introducing another dimension of South India’s mountain landscapes.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury eco-retreat surrounded by forests and natural greenery. Wayanad’s peaceful atmosphere and slower rural lifestyle create a calm conclusion to the tea garden journey.

The remainder of the day remains free for nature walks, wellness experiences, or quiet relaxation amidst the tropical surroundings. Overnight stay in Wayanad.

Day 10 Departure from Calicut

After breakfast, private transfer arrangements are provided to Calicut International Airport for onward departure. Assistance is offered throughout the checkout and transfer process to ensure a smooth conclusion to the luxury tea plantation journey.

During the past ten days, travelers have explored some of South India’s most scenic tea-growing landscapes including Munnar, Valparai, Coonoor, Ooty, and Wayanad while enjoying plantation culture, mountain drives, luxury hill resorts, and immersive tea experiences across Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

With unforgettable memories of mist-covered tea gardens, scenic mountain roads, colonial hill stations, luxury plantation stays, and peaceful Western Ghats landscapes, the tour concludes in Calicut.   because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

Our trip with Top Indian Holidays was fantastic. Our family of five, including 3 small kids, visited the Golden Triangle of India. It was a wonderful cultural experience. I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence. Thank you Top Indian Holidays!  ...Read More

We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
