After check-in, guests may relax after their international journey while enjoying the comfort and premium hospitality of the luxury property. The slower rhythm of the itinerary begins immediately, allowing travelers to settle comfortably before beginning the temple and architecture trail across Tamil Nadu.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy a curated Tamil dining experience featuring traditional South Indian cuisine served within an elegant heritage-inspired setting. Overnight stay in Chennai.

Day 2 Chennai Cultural Exploration

Morning begins with breakfast followed by guided exploration of Chennai’s cultural landmarks and temple heritage. Visit the famous Kapaleeshwarar Temple where colorful Dravidian architecture, towering gateway structures, and spiritual rituals create one of the city’s most iconic cultural experiences.

Continue toward heritage districts associated with classical arts, music traditions, and colonial-era architecture while learning about Chennai’s role as one of South India’s major cultural capitals. Guests may also explore local silk boutiques and artisan spaces connected with Tamil craftsmanship traditions.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy leisure time within the luxury hotel or optional cultural experiences including classical dance performances depending on availability. Overnight stay in Chennai.

Day 3 Chennai to Kanchipuram

After breakfast, depart toward the sacred temple city of Kanchipuram, historically known as the “City of Thousand Temples.” The drive passes through Tamil Nadu’s countryside landscapes before entering one of South India’s oldest spiritual and architectural centers.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage-style property before beginning exploration of Kanchipuram’s magnificent temple complexes including Ekambareswarar Temple and Kailasanatha Temple. Intricate stone carvings, massive gopurams, pillared halls, and sacred rituals reveal the sophistication of early Dravidian architecture.

Kanchipuram is also internationally known for its silk weaving traditions, and guests may later visit traditional weaving centers where artisans continue producing handwoven Kanchipuram silk sarees using centuries-old techniques. Overnight stay in Kanchipuram.

Day 4 Kanchipuram Temple and Silk Heritage Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by deeper architectural exploration across Kanchipuram’s temple districts. The city’s temples showcase multiple dynastic influences including Pallava, Chola, and Vijayanagara architectural styles developed across centuries.

Guests may spend time observing sculptural details, ceremonial spaces, temple corridors, and sacred tanks while learning about Hindu symbolism and temple planning concepts from expert guides. The slower pace of the itinerary allows meaningful appreciation of the artistic and spiritual significance of each site.

Later in the afternoon, continue with silk weaving experiences and cultural interactions before returning to the hotel for a relaxed evening. Overnight stay in Kanchipuram.

Day 5 Kanchipuram to Darasuram

After breakfast, continue toward the UNESCO heritage temple town of Darasuram, home to the extraordinary Airavatesvara Temple built during the Chola period. The scenic drive passes fertile countryside landscapes and temple villages deeply connected with Tamil heritage.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage property before visiting the Airavatesvara Temple, celebrated for its remarkable stone carvings, sculptural precision, and elegant proportions. Compared to the larger temple complexes visited earlier, Darasuram offers a more intimate but highly refined architectural experience.

The temple’s detailed carvings depicting dancers, musicians, mythological scenes, and ceremonial processions reveal the extraordinary artistic sophistication of the Chola Empire. Evening remains peaceful with heritage dining experiences and overnight stay in Darasuram.

Day 6 Darasuram to Gangaikonda Cholapuram

Morning begins with breakfast followed by departure toward Gangaikonda Cholapuram, another UNESCO-listed Chola masterpiece and once the imperial capital of the Chola dynasty under Rajendra Chola I.

Upon arrival, guests explore the grand Brihadeeswarar Temple of Gangaikonda Cholapuram where monumental architecture, intricate carvings, and impressive stone craftsmanship showcase the power and artistic ambition of the Chola rulers.

Compared to Thanjavur’s monumental scale, Gangaikonda Cholapuram feels calmer and more atmospheric with fewer crowds and a deeply reflective environment. The surrounding rural landscapes further enhance the beauty and historical atmosphere of the site. Overnight stay near Gangaikonda Cholapuram.

Day 7 Gangaikonda Cholapuram to Thanjavur

After breakfast, continue toward the historical city of Thanjavur, once the glorious capital of the Chola Empire and one of South India’s greatest centers of temple architecture, classical arts, and sculpture traditions.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage hotel before beginning exploration of the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple, one of India’s greatest architectural achievements and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Massive stone towers, detailed carvings, and vast ceremonial spaces create an unforgettable heritage experience.

As evening light spreads across the granite structures, the temple complex becomes especially dramatic and visually striking. Guests may later enjoy traditional Tamil dining and cultural performances within a heritage setting. Overnight stay in Thanjavur.

Day 8 Thanjavur Artistic Heritage Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by deeper cultural exploration of Thanjavur’s artistic identity. Guests may visit workshops known for traditional Tanjore paintings, bronze sculpture-making, and classical music traditions preserved for generations.

The city’s connection with Bharatanatyam dance, Carnatic music, and temple arts remains deeply alive through local artisan communities and cultural institutions. Guests may also explore palace areas and heritage libraries associated with Tamil literary and artistic history.

Later in the afternoon, return to the hotel for leisure time or optional wellness experiences before another relaxed evening in Thanjavur. Overnight stay in Thanjavur.

Day 9 Thanjavur to Trichy

After breakfast, depart toward the historic temple city of Trichy (Tiruchirappalli), one of Tamil Nadu’s most important religious and architectural destinations. The drive passes fertile Cauvery River landscapes, traditional villages, and temple towns that have shaped the spiritual identity of South India for centuries.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage-style hotel before beginning exploration of the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam. Spread across a massive temple complex with towering gateway structures, pillared halls, sacred corridors, and ceremonial spaces, the temple represents one of the largest functioning Hindu temple complexes in the world.

The architectural scale and spiritual atmosphere of Srirangam create a powerful experience for travelers interested in sacred urban planning and Dravidian temple architecture. Evening remains peaceful with opportunities for quiet exploration of the temple surroundings and traditional Tamil dining experiences. Overnight stay in Trichy.

Day 10 Trichy Architectural and Spiritual Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by continued exploration of Trichy’s heritage landmarks. Visit the iconic Rockfort Temple, dramatically positioned atop a massive rock formation overlooking the city and the Cauvery plains below.

Guests climb through ancient temple pathways and stone steps while learning about the strategic and spiritual importance of the site across multiple dynasties. Panoramic views from the summit reveal the broader temple landscapes and urban heritage of Trichy.

Later in the afternoon, guests may visit local artisan markets and heritage districts connected with Tamil temple traditions and sculpture work. Compared to the monumental Chola structures of Thanjavur, Trichy presents a more active living temple atmosphere deeply integrated into daily city life. Overnight stay in Trichy.

Day 11 Trichy to Madurai

After breakfast, continue toward the ancient spiritual city of Madurai, one of India’s oldest continuously inhabited cities and among South India’s most revered temple destinations. The route passes agricultural plains and traditional Tamil countryside before gradually entering the vibrant temple city.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage hotel before beginning an evening visit to the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple. Towering gateway structures covered with thousands of colorful sculptures dominate the skyline while devotional rituals create a deeply spiritual and artistic atmosphere.

The illuminated temple corridors, chanting, ceremonial lamps, and sacred rituals create one of South India’s most unforgettable cultural experiences. The temple remains both an architectural masterpiece and a living spiritual center visited by thousands daily. Overnight stay in Madurai.

Day 12 Madurai Temple and Cultural Exploration

Morning begins with breakfast followed by a more detailed exploration of Madurai’s artistic and architectural heritage. Guests may observe the sculptural detailing, temple planning, ceremonial halls, and sacred symbolism woven throughout the Meenakshi Temple complex.

Continue toward the historic Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace where Indo-Saracenic architecture, grand pillars, royal courtyards, and ceremonial spaces reflect the artistic sophistication of the Nayak dynasty. The contrast between temple architecture and royal palace design provides deeper understanding of Tamil Nadu’s cultural evolution.

Later in the afternoon, guests may explore traditional markets known for bronze items, temple jewelry, textiles, and handcrafted products closely connected with Tamil religious culture. Evening remains free for optional temple visits or heritage dining experiences. Overnight stay in Madurai.

Day 13 Madurai Leisure and Heritage Day

The day has been intentionally designed at a slower pace allowing guests to absorb Madurai’s atmosphere without rushed sightseeing schedules. After breakfast, travelers may choose optional activities including heritage walks, cultural performances, photography tours, or quiet leisure time within the luxury property.

Madurai’s identity extends beyond its monuments through its temple streets, flower markets, devotional music, local cuisine, and centuries-old traditions still visible throughout daily life. The slower rhythm of the itinerary allows meaningful cultural immersion and appreciation of Tamil spiritual heritage.

Later in the evening, guests may attend a curated Bharatanatyam dance performance or enjoy a traditional Tamil banquet served within an elegant heritage-inspired setting. Overnight stay in Madurai.

Day 14 Madurai to Chennai

After breakfast, proceed toward Chennai by flight or luxury transfer arrangements depending on the final itinerary route. Upon arrival, check into a luxury hotel within the city.

Compared to the temple-centered atmosphere of the previous destinations, Chennai introduces a broader cultural environment combining classical arts, colonial heritage, modern urban life, and traditional Tamil identity. The city serves as a fitting conclusion to the architecture and temple journey across Tamil Nadu.

The remainder of the day remains free for relaxation, shopping, or optional cultural exploration depending on guest preferences. Overnight stay in Chennai.

Day 15 Chennai Cultural Leisure Day

Morning begins with breakfast followed by optional exploration of Chennai’s artistic and cultural districts. Guests may visit classical music venues, handcrafted textile boutiques, heritage neighborhoods, or temple surroundings associated with the city’s cultural traditions.

Chennai’s importance lies not only in its monuments but also in its role as the center of Bharatanatyam dance, Carnatic music, Tamil literature, and contemporary South Indian arts. Guests may enjoy quieter cultural experiences and refined leisure activities before departure.

Later in the evening, a farewell dining experience can be arranged featuring curated Tamil cuisine served within an elegant luxury setting inspired by South India’s heritage traditions. Overnight stay in Chennai.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
