Trip Overview

The Rajasthan UNESCO World Heritage Tour is the most comprehensive and culturally ambitious itinerary in our entire Rajasthan portfolio - a definitive 14-night, 15-day private journey that traces India's greatest concentration of UNESCO World Heritage Sites from Delhi and Agra through the full breadth of Rajasthan, ending in the golden sands of Jaisalmer. This tour is designed for the traveler who wants to understand Rajasthan not just as a collection of beautiful destinations but as a living, layered civilisation - one whose forts, observatories, bird sanctuaries, step-wells, and palaces represent some of the most extraordinary achievements in the history of human architecture, governance, and art.

The itinerary covers an exceptional range of UNESCO-listed and UNESCO-associated sites - the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, the abandoned Mughal capital of Fatehpur Sikri, the Jantar Mantar observatory and Amber Fort in Jaipur, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park bird sanctuary in Bharatpur, the mighty Chittorgarh Fort - the largest fort in Asia - the dramatic hilltop Kumbhalgarh Fort with its 36-kilometre wall, the lake palaces of Udaipur, the Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur, and the living golden fort of Jaisalmer. Together, these sites tell the complete story of Rajasthan - its Mughal encounters, its Rajput defiance, its astronomical brilliance, its architectural ingenuity, and its extraordinary natural heritage.

This is the tour for the heritage traveler, the history enthusiast, the architecture lover, and anyone who wants to leave Rajasthan with a genuinely deep understanding of one of the world's great civilisations.

Rajasthan UNESCO World Heritage Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Delhi Arrival

Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, our representative receives you and transfers you to your hotel. The day is at leisure to rest and settle in after your journey. In the evening, take a gentle walk through the tree-lined boulevards of Lutyens' Delhi or enjoy a quiet dinner at a nearby restaurant - a calm, unhurried beginning to what will be one of the great heritage journeys of your life. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi Sightseeing

After breakfast, your private heritage guide takes you on a full-day Delhi tour - a city that is itself a living UNESCO landscape, layered with monuments from a dozen successive civilisations. In Old Delhi, visit the grand Jama Masjid, walk the iconic lanes of Chandni Chowk by rickshaw, and photograph the towering red sandstone walls of the Red Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the seat of Mughal power for over two centuries. In New Delhi, visit the UNESCO-listed Humayun's Tomb - the first great Mughal garden tomb and the direct architectural forerunner of the Taj Mahal - and the soaring Qutub Minar, the 12th-century victory tower and one of Delhi's oldest and finest Islamic monuments. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

Day 3 Delhi to Agra

After breakfast, drive to Agra (approx. 230 km / 4–5 hrs). The afternoon is devoted to the Agra Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site of massive red sandstone walls enclosing a world of white marble palaces, audience halls, mosques, and royal apartments that served as the principal seat of the Mughal Empire under Akbar, Jahangir, and Shah Jahan. En route back to the hotel, stop at Mehtab Bagh across the Yamuna for a serene, crowd-free sunset view of the Taj Mahal glowing in the fading light - one of the most quietly spectacular views in all of India. Overnight stay at hotel in Agra.

Day 4 Taj Mahal Sunrise & Fatehpur Sikri

Rise before dawn for your sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal - the supreme UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the most moving monument to love ever conceived by human hands. Standing before its white marble dome as the first light of morning turns it from pale rose to brilliant gold is an experience that no amount of prior reading or photography can adequately prepare you for.

After breakfast, drive to Fatehpur Sikri (approx. 40 km) - the perfectly preserved abandoned capital of Emperor Akbar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of breathtaking red sandstone architecture. Explore the Buland Darwaza - the largest gateway in the world - the ethereal white marble Tomb of Salim Chishti, the Panch Mahal, and the royal Diwan-i-Khas. Continue to your hotel in Fatehpur Sikri or nearby for the night. Overnight stay at hotel in Fatehpur Sikri.

Note: Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.

Day 5 Fatehpur Sikri to Jaipur

After breakfast, drive to Jaipur (approx. 200 km / 4 hrs) - the Pink City and capital of Rajasthan, home to two of the state's most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites. En route, stop at the Chand Baori Step-well in the village of Abhaneri - one of the largest and most geometrically perfect step-wells in India, its 3,500 narrow steps descending 13 storeys to the water in a breathtaking symmetrical grid that has made it one of the most photographed architectural wonders in Rajasthan. Arrive in Jaipur, check in to your hotel, and explore the walled city bazaars in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel in Jaipur.

Day 6 Jaipur Sightseeing - Part 1

After breakfast, begin with the magnificent Amber Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the finest example of Rajput hill fort architecture in India, set dramatically above Maota Lake on a rocky ridge. The elephant ride up to the fort entrance, the dazzling Sheesh Mahal, the painted Ganesh Pol gateway, and the sweeping views over the surrounding countryside make this one of the greatest fort experiences anywhere in the world. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Hawa Mahal and the floating Jal Mahal on Man Sagar Lake before exploring Jaipur's extraordinary walled city bazaars. Overnight stay at hotel in Jaipur.

Day 7 Jaipur Sightseeing - Part 2 & Drive to Bharatpur

After breakfast, visit the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar - the 18th-century astronomical observatory of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, featuring 19 monumental architectural instruments including the Samrat Yantra, the world's largest sundial, accurate to two seconds. Your heritage guide's explanation of how these extraordinary instruments work transforms a visit that might otherwise feel mysterious into a genuinely illuminating encounter with pre-modern Indian scientific genius. Visit the City Palace museum before driving to Bharatpur (approx. 180 km / 3.5 hrs) in the afternoon. Overnight stay at hotel in Bharatpur.

Day 8 Keoladeo Ghana National Park & Drive to Chittorgarh

After an early breakfast, spend the morning at the Keoladeo Ghana National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Asia's most important bird sanctuaries, home to over 370 species of birds including the rare Siberian crane, painted storks, open-billed storks, herons, eagles, and an extraordinary variety of migratory waterfowl that descend on the park's wetlands between October and February. Explore the park by cycle rickshaw - the traditional and most rewarding way to move quietly through its reed beds and woodland tracks in search of birds.

After lunch, drive to Chittorgarh (approx. 320 km / 5–6 hrs) - the ancient capital of the Mewar kingdom and home to the largest fort in Asia. Check in to your hotel upon arrival. Overnight stay at hotel in Chittorgarh.

Day 9 Chittorgarh Fort & Drive to Kumbhalgarh

After breakfast, dedicate the morning to the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most historically charged and emotionally powerful fort in all of Rajasthan. Sprawling across a 180-metre high rocky plateau and covering an area of nearly 700 acres, Chittorgarh is the largest fort in Asia and the site of three legendary sieges - in 1303, 1535, and 1568 - during which the Rajput warriors of Mewar chose death over surrender in acts of extraordinary collective sacrifice known as jauhar. The Vijay Stambha (Tower of Victory), the Kirti Stambha (Tower of Fame), the Rani Padmini Palace, and the numerous temples within the fort complex tell a story of Rajput pride, chivalry, and defiance that is unlike anything else in India.

After lunch, drive to Kumbhalgarh (approx. 190 km / 3.5 hrs). Overnight stay at heritage resort near Kumbhalgarh.

Day 10 Kumbhalgarh Fort & Drive to Udaipur

After breakfast, visit the extraordinary Kumbhalgarh Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched dramatically on a peak of the Aravalli hills at an altitude of 1,100 metres, its massive boundary wall stretching an astonishing 36 kilometres around the fort's perimeter - the second longest continuous wall in the world after the Great Wall of China, a fact that invariably produces a moment of genuine disbelief in every visitor who hears it for the first time. Built in the 15th century by Maharana Kumbha - the greatest builder-king in Rajput history - the fort contains 360 temples within its walls and offers sweeping views across the Aravalli range and the Thar Desert plains beyond.

After lunch, drive to Udaipur (approx. 90 km / 2 hrs) and enjoy a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola upon arrival. Overnight stay at luxury heritage hotel in Udaipur.

Day 11 Udaipur Sightseeing

A full day to discover Udaipur's palaces, temples, and lakeside beauty. Visit the magnificent City Palace - the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, its museums housing exceptional collections of royal miniature paintings, arms, costumes, and decorative arts, and its terraces offering sweeping views over Lake Pichola and the Aravalli hills. Explore the 17th-century Jagdish Temple, the enchanting royal garden of Saheliyon ki Bari with its marble fountains and lotus pools, and the Bagore Ki Haveli for an evening of vibrant Rajasthani folk music and dance. Stroll along the Fateh Sagar Lake promenade in the late afternoon as the sun sets behind the hills. Overnight stay at luxury heritage hotel in Udaipur.

Day 12 Udaipur to Jodhpur

After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur (approx. 260 km / 5 hrs) - the Blue City, where the colossal Mehrangarh Fort dominates the skyline above a labyrinth of indigo-painted houses and ancient bazaars. En route, stop once more at the Ranakpur Jain Temples - a breathtaking 15th-century marble complex of 1,444 uniquely carved pillars in a peaceful forested valley, considered one of the five holiest pilgrimage sites in the Jain faith and among the most remarkable architectural achievements in all of India. Arrive in Jodhpur, check in to your heritage hotel, and spend the evening on a rooftop watching the fort walls glow amber at dusk. Overnight stay at luxury heritage hotel in Jodhpur.

Day 13 Jodhpur Sightseeing & Drive to Jaisalmer

After breakfast, explore Jodhpur's magnificent heritage with your guide. The awe-inspiring Mehrangarh Fort - rising 125 metres sheer above the blue city, its grandly decorated palaces, extraordinary museum, and breathtaking rampart views make it one of the finest fort experiences in all of India. Visit the exquisite white marble Jaswant Thada cenotaph and take a guided walk through the narrow, indigo-painted lanes of the old city below the fort. After lunch, drive to Jaisalmer (approx. 290 km / 5–6 hrs) - the Golden City. Check in to your heritage hotel and take an evening walk through the fort as it glows its deepest gold at dusk. Overnight stay at luxury heritage hotel in Jaisalmer.

Day 14 Jaisalmer Sightseeing & Desert Camp

After breakfast, explore the Jaisalmer Fort - Sonar Qila - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's largest fully inhabited living forts, its honey-gold sandstone ramparts built in 1156 AD still enclosing a living community of thousands. Visit the intricately carved Jain temples within the fort, the Royal Palace, and the magnificent Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli outside the fort walls. In the late afternoon, drive to the Sam Sand Dunes for a camel safari across the golden dunes at sunset before arriving at your luxury desert camp for a final, unforgettable evening - a bonfire under the stars, live folk music, a hot dinner in the open desert air, and above it all, the vast, brilliant Thar night sky. Overnight stay at Luxury Desert Camp, Jaisalmer.

Day 15 Jaisalmer to Delhi - Departure

Watch the desert sunrise over the Sam Sand Dunes - a golden, meditative, and fittingly majestic final morning for a tour that has taken you through some of the greatest heritage sites on the face of the earth. After camp breakfast, transfer to Jaisalmer Airport for your flight to Delhi and onward home. Our representative will assist with all departure formalities.

You have walked the walls of Chittorgarh, stood before the Taj Mahal at sunrise, explored the living streets of a medieval fort, and slept under the stars of the Thar. Few journeys anywhere in the world offer this breadth, this depth, or this beauty. We hope Rajasthan stays with you always

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe.   I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
