Jaipur - Agra - Jodhpur - Udaipur

Trip Overview

Not every great India journey needs to begin in Delhi. This 8 Nights / 9 Days Queer Friendly Rajasthan with Agra Tour is designed for LGBTQ+ travelers who want to dive straight into the heart of royal Rajasthan - beginning in Jaipur, moving through the eternal romance of Agra and its Taj Mahal, then continuing into the dramatic Blue City of Jodhpur and finally arriving at the breathtaking lake palaces of Udaipur. It is a journey that covers four of India's most magnificent destinations in a logical, beautifully paced arc - and it works perfectly for travelers flying directly into Jaipur or connecting from another Indian city.

What makes this tour particularly well-suited to queer travelers is the quality and character of its four destinations. Jaipur - with its extraordinary palace hotels and rooftop restaurants - is one of India's most beloved cities for gay and lesbian couples. Agra - with the Taj Mahal at its center - offers the most universally resonant monument to love in human history. Jodhpur - dramatic, visually extraordinary, and surprisingly relaxed in its attitudes toward international LGBTQ+ guests - delivers some of Rajasthan's finest fort and palace experiences. And Udaipur - consistently rated India's most romantic city - is the destination that most gay and lesbian travelers who visit Rajasthan remember longest and return to most readily.

Every hotel on this tour has been personally selected for its beautiful heritage character and its genuinely welcoming attitude toward same-sex couples and LGBTQ+ guests. Every guide and driver is experienced with international queer travelers. And the itinerary has been designed with the perfect balance of structured sightseeing and free time - enough to see everything important, with enough space to simply enjoy being somewhere extraordinary.

Queer Friendly Rajasthan with Agra Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Jaipur

Welcome to the Pink City - Your Rajasthan Journey Begins

Upon arrival at Jaipur Airport or Railway Station, your representative will be waiting with a name board to escort you to your private air-conditioned vehicle. Transfer to your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel in the Pink City.

Jaipur announces itself immediately - its rose-pink architecture, its rooftop skyline, and the particular warmth of its light make it one of the most immediately beautiful cities in India. The rest of the day is at your leisure - explore your hotel's beautiful spaces, take a walk through the nearby lanes of the old city, or simply settle in with a cold drink and the very satisfying feeling of having arrived somewhere wonderful.

This evening, dinner at one of Jaipur's celebrated rooftop restaurants - your guide can arrange a special table with views over the glowing pink rooftops and the illuminated Nahargarh Fort above the city, a perfect first evening in Rajasthan.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 2 Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing

The Pink City - Forts, Palaces & the Magic of Rajasthan

After a leisurely breakfast at your heritage hotel, your private guide takes you on a full and deeply enjoyable day of sightseeing through Jaipur - a city of extraordinary architectural beauty and royal character that consistently ranks among India's finest and most rewarding destinations for international travelers.

Begin with the iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - its extraordinary facade of 953 latticed windows one of the most photographed and instantly recognizable images in India. Drive to the commanding Amber Fort - a magnificent hilltop palace of Rajput grandeur, its Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) sparkling with thousands of mirror reflections and its panoramic views over the surrounding hills and lake genuinely breathtaking. En route pause at the ethereal Jal Mahal (Water Palace) appearing to float serenely on Man Sagar Lake in a setting of painterly beauty.

The afternoon brings visits to the magnificent City Palace - still partially home to the Jaipur royal family - the extraordinary Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - and a leisurely walk through Jaipur's famous heritage markets for block-print fabrics, blue pottery, Kundan jewellery, and Rajasthani handicrafts.

This evening, consider a cooking class at one of Jaipur's finest heritage hotels - learning to prepare traditional Rajasthani dishes in a beautiful kitchen setting is one of the most enjoyable and personal cultural experiences that Jaipur offers, and one that queer travelers who love food and cooking consistently rate among the highlights of their Rajasthan visit.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 3 Jaipur to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri

From the Pink City to the City of the Taj Mahal

After breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Agra - approximately 5 hours from Jaipur, with a wonderful en route stop at Fatehpur Sikri - the perfectly preserved abandoned Mughal capital built by Emperor Akbar in 1571 and deserted after just 15 years due to water scarcity. Its magnificent mosques, palaces, and courtyards - including the extraordinary Buland Darwaza (Gate of Victory), the Jama Masjid, and the Panch Mahal - stand in eerie, beautiful silence, frozen in architectural perfection at the moment of their abandonment.

Continue the drive to Agra and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming hotel. In the late afternoon, head out for your first visit to the Taj Mahal - walking through the Great Gate together and seeing this wonder of the world for the first time. No description, no photograph, and no film has ever fully captured what it feels like to stand before the Taj Mahal in person - the sheer perfection of its proportions, the luminous quality of the white marble, and the extraordinary emotional weight of a building created entirely as an act of love make this one of the most powerful and genuinely moving experiences that India offers any traveler.

After the Taj Mahal, visit the formidable Agra Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose red sandstone walls and gilded palaces once housed the most powerful court in the Mughal world - before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Overnight stay in Agra. Note: The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday.

Day 4 Agra Sunrise Taj Mahal & Drive to Jodhpur

The Most Beautiful Morning in India - Then Onward to the Blue City

Rise before dawn for a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal - the most magical and most deeply moving time to experience this wonder of the world. In the extraordinary first light of morning, with mist rising from the Yamuna River and the monument shifting from pale silver to brilliant luminous white as the sun climbs above the horizon, the Taj Mahal reveals a beauty that genuinely takes the breath away. For queer travelers who have dreamed of this moment - it is simply everything you hoped it would be, and more.

Also visit the exquisitely carved Itmad-Ud-Daulah (Baby Taj) - the small but perfectly formed marble mausoleum whose intricate inlaid stonework pioneered the techniques that would reach their zenith in the Taj Mahal itself. Then after breakfast and checkout begin the long but comfortable drive to Jodhpur - approximately 7 to 8 hours with rest stops along the way.

Arrive in Jodhpur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel with views of the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort rising above the blue-washed rooftops. After the Mughal refinement of Agra, the dramatic, muscular grandeur of Jodhpur feels like an entirely different India - and it is all the more rewarding for the contrast.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 5 Full Day Jodhpur Sightseeing

Mehrangarh Fort, the Blue City & the World's Greatest Palace Hotel

After breakfast, your guide takes you on a full and deeply rewarding day through Jodhpur - one of Rajasthan's most dramatic and visually spectacular cities.

Begin with the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort - rising 125 meters above the city on a sheer volcanic rock outcrop, its walls and towers dominating every view of Jodhpur, its internal palaces housing one of the finest collections of royal artefacts in Rajasthan. The Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), and Sheesh Mahal (Glass Palace) are of extraordinary beauty - their carved sandstone screens and painted ceilings among the finest expressions of Rajput royal architecture anywhere in India. The views from the fort's ramparts over the blue-washed city below and the Thar Desert stretching to the horizon are genuinely spectacular.

Descend to visit the beautiful Jaswant Thada - the exquisitely carved white marble cenotaph whose thin screens glow translucent in the sunlight, its peaceful lakeside gardens making it one of Jodhpur's most romantic and photogenic spots. Continue through the old city lanes for a walk through the blue heart of Jodhpur - its extraordinary blue-washed houses creating the city's signature color in every direction.

The afternoon brings a visit to the extraordinary Umaid Bhawan Palace - 347 rooms of golden Chittar sandstone, one of the world's last great palace buildings, its Art Deco grandeur and royal Rajput scale making it one of the most impressive buildings in all of Rajasthan. Even as a visitor to the museum and gardens, the scale and magnificence of Umaid Bhawan is genuinely awe-inspiring.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 6 Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur

From the Blue City to the Most Romantic City in India

After breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Udaipur - approximately 5 to 6 hours through the beautiful landscapes of southern Rajasthan. Today's drive includes one of the finest detours on any Rajasthan itinerary - the magnificent Ranakpur Jain Temples.

The Ranakpur Chaumukha Temple - built in the 15th century and supported by 1,444 individually carved marble pillars, not one of which is identical to any other - is one of the most extraordinary architectural achievements in all of India. Its interior is a forest of white marble columns, each carved with a different design of extraordinary intricacy, the whole illuminated by shafts of light falling through carved marble screens in a constantly changing play of light and shadow that makes the temple interior feel genuinely magical. It is one of those places that consistently leaves visitors quietly speechless - and it is a perfect stop between the drama of Jodhpur and the romance of Udaipur.

Arrive in Udaipur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming lake-facing heritage hotel. The view of Lake Pichola and the white marble palaces above it - the City Palace rising from the eastern shore, the Taj Lake Palace floating on the surface of the water in the evening light - is extraordinary and immediate. Udaipur announces its beauty without any preamble, and it is a beauty of a different quality entirely from anything else in Rajasthan - softer, more luminous, more deeply romantic.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 7 Full Day Udaipur Sightseeing

Palaces, Lakes & the Sunset That Defines Rajasthan

After a leisurely breakfast, your guide takes you on a beautiful and well-paced day of exploration through Udaipur - the City of Lakes, the Venice of the East, and the most consistently romantic destination in all of India.

Begin with the magnificent City Palace - the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, its museums housing an extraordinary collection of royal paintings, crystal, glass mosaics, and Rajput artefacts, its terraces offering views over Lake Pichola that are among the finest in Udaipur. Visit the beautiful Jagdish Temple - Udaipur's most important and most architecturally beautiful temple - and the enchanting Saheliyon Ki Bari (Garden of the Maidens) - its lotus pools, marble fountains, and flowering trees creating one of Udaipur's most peaceful and genuinely romantic settings.

The afternoon's highlight is your private sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola - gliding silently past the legendary Taj Lake Palace and to the beautiful Jag Mandir Island Palace for tea or drinks on the magnificent lakeside terrace, the entire panorama of Udaipur and its palaces spread across the water before you. As the sun sets over the Aravalli Hills and the palaces begin to glow with their evening illumination - the lake turning gold, then copper, then silver in the fading light - this is a moment of rare and lasting beauty that perfectly encapsulates everything that makes Udaipur so extraordinary.

Dinner this evening at one of Udaipur's finest lakeside restaurants - a beautiful end to a beautiful day in India's most romantic city.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 8 Udaipur Leisure Day

Art Galleries, Craft Studios & the City at Your Own Pace

Today is kept deliberately free of structured sightseeing - a day to explore Udaipur at your own pace and discover the city's quieter, more intimate pleasures. The old city lanes around Jagdish Temple and the lake ghats are full of art galleries, miniature painting studios, silver jewellery shops, craft workshops, and small boutiques selling Rajasthani textiles and handcrafted goods of exceptional quality.

Udaipur's tradition of miniature painting is one of the finest in India - a highly refined artistic tradition whose master practitioners still work here in family studios, painting with brushes made from a single squirrel hair on handmade paper in styles that have been passed down through generations. A morning visit to one of these studios is one of the most rewarding and genuinely personal cultural experiences that Udaipur offers - and a small original painting commissioned here makes one of the most beautiful and lasting souvenirs available anywhere in Rajasthan.

If relaxation and wellness are the priority, several of Udaipur's finest heritage hotels and dedicated spa facilities offer excellent Ayurvedic treatments and traditional Rajasthani massage - a deeply restorative way to spend a final day in such a beautiful city. This evening, the cultural performance at Bagore Ki Haveli - a nightly program of traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance performed in the atmospheric setting of an 18th-century haveli - is one of the most colorful and enjoyable cultural evenings in Rajasthan and a perfect final night in Udaipur.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 9 Udaipur Departure

Farewell from the City of Lakes

A final leisurely breakfast at your hotel - ideally on a lake-view terrace with the morning light moving across the water and the palaces above it in the golden clarity of a Rajasthan morning. Take your time. Udaipur deserves a slow farewell.

The morning is free for any last-minute exploration - a final walk along the lake shore, a return to a favorite gallery or café, or simply a quiet hour watching the boats move across the lake before your journey home begins.

At the designated time, your private vehicle transfers you to Udaipur Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. You leave India having experienced four of its most magnificent destinations - the pink palaces of Jaipur, the eternal marble beauty of the Taj Mahal, the dramatic blue fort city of Jodhpur, and the luminous lake palaces of Udaipur. A journey of extraordinary variety, beauty, and personal meaning - experienced privately, comfortably, and entirely as yourself.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
