A Luxury Tour of India: Forts, Palaces & the Taj Mahal :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Mumbai

Upon arrival at Mumbai International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you before escorting you to your luxury heritage hotel. India’s financial capital introduces travelers to a fascinating blend of colonial architecture, cosmopolitan culture, luxury hospitality, and Arabian Sea views. After your international journey, the day is intentionally planned at a relaxed pace allowing time to settle comfortably before beginning the royal heritage exploration across India.

Depending on your arrival timing, enjoy a leisurely orientation drive through South Mumbai where colonial-era buildings, luxury hotels, historic districts, and vibrant waterfront promenades reflect the city’s dynamic atmosphere and architectural richness. The contrast between historic elegance and modern urban energy creates an engaging first impression of India.

Later in the evening, relax at your luxury hotel or enjoy dinner at one of Mumbai’s renowned fine-dining restaurants overlooking the Arabian Sea. Your tour coordinator will also provide a complete briefing regarding the upcoming palace and heritage journey across Rajasthan and North India. Overnight stay in Mumbai.

Day 2 Mumbai Sightseeing

The morning begins with a guided exploration of Mumbai including visits to the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Colaba, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Colonial architecture, bustling streets, luxury boutiques, and historic landmarks together create one of India’s most visually diverse urban experiences.

Continue sightseeing through heritage neighborhoods and cultural districts where old colonial structures continue to coexist with modern commercial life. Mumbai’s energy, cinema culture, art scene, and cosmopolitan atmosphere create a fascinating contrast compared to the royal cities visited later during the itinerary.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy leisure time exploring upscale shopping areas, cafés, or seaside promenades before returning to your luxury hotel. The evening atmosphere of Mumbai combines elegance, sophistication, and vibrant city life beautifully. Overnight stay in Mumbai.

Day 3 Mumbai to Udaipur

Following breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Udaipur, Rajasthan’s romantic City of Lakes admired for elegant palaces, tranquil waters, and refined royal heritage. Compared to Mumbai’s energetic urban atmosphere, Udaipur offers a calmer and more graceful environment surrounded by hills and shimmering lakes.

Upon arrival, check into your luxury palace-style hotel overlooking Lake Pichola or the surrounding landscapes. Udaipur has long remained associated with romance, luxury hospitality, and royal elegance, making it one of India’s most admired heritage destinations.

The evening can be spent relaxing while admiring illuminated palace reflections across calm lake waters. Sunset views combined with peaceful lakeside surroundings create an unforgettable introduction to Rajasthan’s royal beauty. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 4 Udaipur Sightseeing

The day begins with a guided exploration of the magnificent City Palace complex overlooking Lake Pichola. Elegant courtyards, decorative balconies, royal apartments, museums, and panoramic terraces reveal the grandeur of the Mewar dynasty and Rajasthan’s royal legacy.

Continue sightseeing with visits to Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon Ki Bari where lotus pools, fountains, marble pavilions, and landscaped gardens create a peaceful royal atmosphere. Udaipur’s scenic beauty and architectural elegance make the city especially rewarding for photography and slow-paced cultural exploration.

Later in the evening, enjoy a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola while admiring Jag Mandir, the famous Lake Palace, and surrounding palace architecture illuminated beautifully against the evening sky. The calm waters and surrounding hills create one of the most elegant experiences of the journey. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 5 Udaipur to Ajabgarh

After breakfast, depart for Ajabgarh, one of Rajasthan’s hidden luxury countryside destinations surrounded by hills, forests, and peaceful landscapes. Unlike Rajasthan’s larger tourist cities, Ajabgarh offers exclusivity, tranquility, and refined luxury hospitality amidst nature and heritage surroundings.

The scenic drive passes through rural Rajasthan landscapes, traditional villages, and quiet countryside roads while gradually moving away from busy urban areas into a more secluded and intimate environment.

Upon arrival, check into your luxury heritage retreat where elegant architecture, private spaces, personalized hospitality, and peaceful natural surroundings create an extraordinary experience for discerning travelers. The evening is ideal for relaxation, spa experiences, or enjoying candle-lit dining beneath the stars. Overnight stay in Ajabgarh.

Day 6 Ajabgarh Leisure & Countryside Experiences

The morning begins at a relaxed pace allowing travelers to fully appreciate the exclusivity and peaceful atmosphere of the luxury retreat. Surrounded by hills and countryside landscapes, Ajabgarh offers a quieter and more intimate side of Rajasthan far removed from crowded tourist routes.

Guests may enjoy nature walks, wellness experiences, village interactions, or simply relax within the elegant surroundings of the property. The combination of luxury hospitality and untouched landscapes creates a refreshing balance within the overall itinerary.

Later in the evening, enjoy curated cultural experiences or private dining while admiring Rajasthan’s peaceful countryside atmosphere. Travelers often appreciate this slower and more refined experience before continuing toward Jaipur’s vibrant royal environment. Overnight stay in Ajabgarh.

Day 7 Ajabgarh to Jaipur

Following breakfast, depart for Jaipur, Rajasthan’s celebrated Pink City known for royal palaces, colorful bazaars, and magnificent architecture. The drive passes through scenic countryside regions before gradually entering the energetic atmosphere of Rajasthan’s capital city.

Upon arrival, check into your luxury heritage hotel before beginning a relaxed evening exploration. Jaipur’s pink-painted streets, artisan workshops, and lively markets create an engaging cultural experience filled with color and tradition.

Later, enjoy leisure time exploring Jaipur’s famous bazaars known for gemstones, handcrafted jewelry, textiles, blue pottery, and block-print fabrics. The city’s artisan heritage and royal atmosphere make Jaipur one of India’s most rewarding cultural destinations. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 8 Jaipur Sightseeing

The day begins with an excursion to Amber Fort located amidst the Aravalli Hills outside Jaipur. Massive gateways, decorative courtyards, mirror-work halls, and beautifully painted royal chambers reveal the grandeur of Rajput architecture and royal lifestyle from earlier centuries.

After returning to the city, continue sightseeing with visits to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal. The City Palace beautifully combines Mughal and Rajput influences while Jantar Mantar demonstrates India’s remarkable scientific achievements through giant astronomical instruments.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Rajasthani cultural dinner accompanied by folk music and dance performances. Rich regional cuisine, colorful costumes, and royal-style hospitality together create an immersive cultural experience admired by luxury travelers visiting Rajasthan. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 9 Jaipur to Agra

After breakfast, depart for Agra while traveling through changing countryside landscapes and traditional settlements across North India. En route, stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the magnificent abandoned Mughal capital built during Emperor Akbar’s reign. Massive gateways, royal halls, mosques, and beautifully designed courtyards reveal extraordinary Mughal planning and architectural brilliance preserved across centuries.

Continue toward Agra and check into your luxury hotel upon arrival. Famous worldwide for the Taj Mahal, Agra remains one of India’s most important heritage destinations connected deeply with Mughal history, architecture, and artistic refinement.

Later in the evening, enjoy peaceful sunset views of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh located across the Yamuna River. The softer evening light reflecting across the marble monument creates an unforgettable atmosphere before the sunrise visit planned for the following morning. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 10 Agra Sightseeing & Taj Mahal

Early in the morning, visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise when the white marble monument glows beautifully beneath changing natural light. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal remains one of the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces and a timeless symbol of eternal love.

Your guide will explain the monument’s history, intricate marble inlay work, Mughal garden planning, and architectural symmetry while travelers admire one of the most celebrated heritage landmarks on Earth. The peaceful early morning atmosphere further enhances the experience.

After breakfast, continue sightseeing with a guided exploration of Agra Fort where royal audience halls, marble pavilions, palace chambers, and riverfront balconies reveal fascinating stories connected to Mughal emperors and royal life. The remainder of the evening can be spent relaxing at your luxury hotel or enjoying fine dining experiences inspired by Mughal cuisine. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 11 Agra to Delhi

Following breakfast, depart for Delhi using one of India’s finest express highways. The comfortable journey allows travelers time to reflect on the remarkable experiences encountered throughout Rajasthan and North India including palace cities, hidden countryside retreats, Mughal architecture, and luxury heritage stays.

Upon arrival in Delhi, check into your luxury hotel before beginning a relaxed evening exploration of the capital city. Delhi beautifully combines Mughal heritage, colonial elegance, modern architecture, luxury hospitality, and vibrant urban life.

Later, enjoy leisure time exploring upscale shopping districts, cafés, or fine-dining restaurants before returning to your hotel. The final evening of the tour offers an opportunity to revisit memories of lakeside palaces, royal forts, and timeless Mughal monuments experienced during the journey. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 12 Delhi Sightseeing

The morning begins with a guided exploration of Old Delhi where bustling bazaars, Mughal monuments, spice markets, and narrow historic lanes continue to preserve the atmosphere of medieval India. Enjoy a traditional rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk while observing colorful local life and vibrant street culture.

Visit Jama Masjid, one of India’s grandest mosques built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The elegant architecture and massive courtyards provide excellent insight into Delhi’s Mughal heritage and Islamic artistic traditions.

Later, continue toward New Delhi where broad colonial avenues and landscaped districts create a striking contrast to the crowded old city. Visits to India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutub Minar further showcase Delhi’s architectural richness and UNESCO-recognized heritage. Return to your luxury hotel in the evening for overnight stay.

Day 13 Leisure Day in Delhi

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely day in Delhi designed for relaxation, optional shopping, and independent exploration. Following several days of active sightseeing across Rajasthan and North India, this slower-paced day allows travelers to experience the capital city more comfortably.

Guests may choose to explore luxury boutiques, artisan stores, art galleries, or fine-dining restaurants while discovering Delhi’s modern lifestyle and cosmopolitan atmosphere. The city offers excellent opportunities for purchasing handcrafted textiles, jewelry, décor items, carpets, and premium Indian fashion.

The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing at your luxury hotel or enjoying spa and wellness experiences. Travelers often appreciate this calm conclusion before international departure. Overnight stay in Delhi.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
