Luxury South India Slow Travel Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Bangalore

Upon arrival at Bangalore International Airport, guests are warmly welcomed by the representative of Top Indian Holidays and transferred privately to their luxury hotel. Bangalore’s pleasant weather, green boulevards, and cosmopolitan atmosphere create a comfortable and relaxed beginning to the slow travel journey.

After check-in, guests may relax after their international flight while enjoying the premium facilities and elegant ambiance of the hotel. Unlike fast-paced itineraries, this journey has been designed with slower transitions and extended leisure time from the very beginning.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy a curated Karnataka dining experience featuring regional flavors and contemporary South Indian cuisine within an elegant luxury setting. Overnight stay in Bangalore.

Day 2 Bangalore Leisure Day

Morning begins with breakfast followed by a relaxed leisure day allowing travelers to settle naturally into the slower rhythm of the journey. Guests may choose optional experiences including garden visits, wellness therapies, café exploration, or luxury shopping experiences within Bangalore’s refined urban districts.

The city’s calm climate and tree-lined avenues make it especially suitable for relaxed exploration and recovery after international travel. Guests may also enjoy private yoga or spa sessions depending on personal interests.

Later in the evening, guests may explore Bangalore’s fine dining culture or simply unwind within the comfort of the luxury hotel. Overnight stay in Bangalore.

Day 3 Bangalore to Mysore

After breakfast, continue toward the royal heritage city of Mysore, historically associated with Karnataka’s Wodeyar dynasty and elegant palace culture. The drive remains comfortable and scenic with countryside landscapes and smaller heritage towns spread along the route.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury palace-style hotel before enjoying relaxed exploration of the famous Mysore Palace. Lavish interiors, stained glass ceilings, royal halls, chandeliers, and ceremonial courtyards reflect the grandeur of Karnataka’s royal heritage.

The evening remains peaceful with opportunities for heritage dining and quiet walks through Mysore’s elegant boulevards and markets. Overnight stay in Mysore.

Day 4 Mysore Cultural Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by slower cultural exploration across Mysore’s heritage districts. Guests may visit silk weaving centers, sandalwood workshops, flower markets, and artisan areas connected with the city’s royal traditions.

Compared to rushed sightseeing tours, the slower pace allows meaningful interaction with local culture and architecture. Guests may also visit Chamundi Hills for panoramic views and quieter spiritual experiences overlooking the city.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy wellness therapies or relaxed leisure time within the palace hotel while absorbing Mysore’s calm atmosphere. Overnight stay in Mysore.

Day 5 Mysore to Kabini

After breakfast, continue toward the wildlife and forest region of Kabini, one of South India’s finest luxury jungle retreat destinations. The drive gradually transitions from heritage city landscapes into forested regions and wildlife corridors.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury wildlife lodge surrounded by river landscapes and forest scenery. Kabini’s peaceful environment and luxury eco-lodges create an entirely different atmosphere compared to urban heritage destinations.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy sunset views beside the Kabini River while listening to forest sounds and enjoying the calm wilderness environment. Overnight stay in Kabini.

Day 6 Kabini Wildlife and Nature Experiences

Morning begins early with optional wildlife safari experiences across Kabini’s forest landscapes known for elephants, deer, birdlife, and occasional leopard sightings. Unlike crowded safari circuits, Kabini offers quieter and more intimate wildlife experiences within highly scenic surroundings.

Guests may also enjoy boat safaris, nature walks, photography sessions, or simply relax within the luxury lodge while observing wildlife around the riverbanks. The slower pace allows travelers to appreciate the forest atmosphere rather than rushing through activities.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy bonfire evenings, nature-inspired dining, and peaceful relaxation amidst the jungle surroundings. Overnight stay in Kabini.

Day 7 Kabini to Ooty

After breakfast, continue toward the famous hill station of Ooty located within the Nilgiri Hills. The scenic drive passes forests, valleys, tea plantations, and winding mountain roads while gradually introducing cooler weather and colonial hill station landscapes.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury colonial-style resort surrounded by gardens and mountain views. Ooty’s slower atmosphere, cool climate, and tea-covered landscapes perfectly complement the relaxed rhythm of the itinerary.

The remainder of the day remains free for plantation walks, tea experiences, or quiet relaxation amidst the Nilgiri Hills. Overnight stay in Ooty.

Day 8 Ooty Leisure and Plantation Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by a leisurely day across Ooty’s tea plantations, botanical gardens, and scenic mountain viewpoints. Guests may enjoy tea tasting sessions, photography walks, or boating experiences at Ooty Lake.

The slower pace of the itinerary ensures travelers can fully absorb the peaceful atmosphere of the Nilgiri Hills without feeling rushed between sightseeing locations. Colonial architecture, eucalyptus forests, and mist-covered landscapes create highly relaxing surroundings throughout the day.

Later in the afternoon, guests may return to the resort for spa therapies, fireplace relaxation, or private dining experiences overlooking the hills. Overnight stay in Ooty.

Day 9 Ooty to Coonoor

After breakfast, continue toward the quieter hill destination of Coonoor, located amidst the rolling tea estates of the Nilgiri Hills. Although the distance is short, the journey remains highly scenic with mist-covered valleys, eucalyptus forests, and endless tea plantations accompanying the route.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury tea estate retreat surrounded by landscaped gardens and panoramic mountain views. Compared to Ooty’s livelier atmosphere, Coonoor feels calmer and more intimate, making it especially suitable for travelers seeking peaceful mountain experiences and uninterrupted relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy slow plantation walks, tea tasting sessions, or simply relax beside the valley viewpoints while cool mountain air drifts across the hills. Sunset across the tea estates creates one of the most serene moments of the itinerary. Overnight stay in Coonoor.

Day 10 Coonoor Slow Leisure Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast overlooking the Nilgiri valleys followed by a completely relaxed leisure day. Guests may visit nearby tea estates, colonial-era viewpoints, or quiet mountain cafés while enjoying the slower rhythm of hill station life.

Unlike rushed sightseeing-focused itineraries, this day has been intentionally designed to allow travelers to absorb the atmosphere naturally. Guests may spend time reading beside fireplaces, enjoying spa therapies, practicing yoga, or photographing mist-covered tea gardens spread across the hills.

Later in the afternoon, private high tea experiences may be arranged within the estate property featuring locally grown Nilgiri tea varieties and regional snacks. Evening remains peaceful with overnight stay in Coonoor.

Day 11 Coonoor to Munnar

After breakfast, begin another scenic mountain journey toward Kerala’s famous plantation destination of Munnar. The route passes forests, waterfalls, spice plantations, and winding valley roads while gradually introducing the dramatic tea-covered landscapes of Kerala’s Western Ghats.

As the journey progresses, the scenery becomes increasingly lush with rolling tea gardens stretching across mist-covered mountain slopes. The drive itself becomes one of the highlights of the itinerary because of the changing landscapes and peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury plantation resort surrounded by tea estates and panoramic valley views. Evening remains free for relaxation amidst the cool climate and plantation surroundings. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 12 Munnar Plantation and Wellness Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast overlooking the tea-covered hills followed by relaxed exploration of Munnar’s scenic plantation landscapes. Guests may visit Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and selected tea plantation viewpoints while enjoying panoramic mountain scenery.

Compared to the colonial atmosphere of the Nilgiri Hills, Munnar feels more tropical and immersive with denser tea gardens, waterfalls, and dramatic cloud-covered valleys. The slower pace allows guests to spend more time within nature rather than moving rapidly between sightseeing points.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy Ayurvedic spa therapies, tea tasting sessions, or quiet plantation walks within the luxury resort. Evening remains calm with overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 13 Munnar to Kumarakom

After breakfast, descend gradually from Kerala’s mountain landscapes toward the peaceful backwater destination of Kumarakom located beside the vast Vembanad Lake. The drive passes waterfalls, rivers, spice plantations, and tropical countryside villages throughout the route.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury lakefront resort offering private villas, wellness facilities, and scenic backwater surroundings. Kumarakom’s calm atmosphere creates a refreshing contrast after the cooler mountain regions covered earlier in the itinerary.

The remainder of the day remains free for canoe rides, birdwatching, sunset cruises, or Ayurvedic wellness experiences overlooking the lake. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.

Day 14 Kumarakom Backwater Leisure Day

Morning begins with breakfast overlooking the peaceful backwaters followed by another intentionally slow leisure day focused on wellness and relaxation. Kumarakom’s tropical atmosphere naturally encourages slower travel and quiet immersion within Kerala’s lake landscapes.

Guests may enjoy yoga sessions, Ayurvedic therapies, village canoe rides, or simply spend time relaxing amidst coconut groves and calm waterways. The slower pace of the itinerary ensures travelers remain refreshed and comfortable throughout the journey.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy curated Kerala cuisine and sunset dining experiences beside the lake while traditional fishing boats move slowly across the backwaters. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.

Day 15 Kumarakom to Alleppey

After breakfast, continue toward the famous backwater region of Alleppey. Upon arrival, guests board a luxury private houseboat designed for comfort, privacy, and immersive backwater cruising experiences.

The slower rhythm of the backwaters perfectly complements the philosophy of this itinerary where relaxation and atmosphere remain more important than rushed sightseeing schedules. Spacious suites, elegant dining areas, and panoramic viewing decks create a highly peaceful environment onboard.

As the houseboat glides through canals and lagoons, guests observe Kerala village life unfolding beside the waterways including coconut farms, churches, fishing communities, and paddy fields. Sunset across the water creates one of the most memorable moments of the journey. Overnight stay onboard the luxury houseboat in Alleppey.

Day 16 Alleppey to Kovalam

Morning breakfast onboard the houseboat is followed by departure toward Kerala’s luxury beach destination of Kovalam. The scenic drive passes tropical villages, rivers, and Arabian Sea landscapes while gradually introducing Kerala’s southern coastline.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury beachfront resort overlooking the sea. Kovalam’s crescent-shaped beaches, calm waters, and wellness-focused hospitality make it one of South India’s most relaxing coastal destinations.

The evening remains free for sunset beach walks, spa therapies, or private relaxation experiences beside the Arabian Sea. Overnight stay in Kovalam.

Day 17 Kovalam Wellness and Coastal Relaxation

Morning begins with breakfast overlooking the Arabian Sea followed by a slower leisure day dedicated entirely to wellness and relaxation. Kovalam’s peaceful atmosphere, tropical climate, and luxury beachfront resorts make it one of South India’s finest destinations for slow travel experiences.

Guests may enjoy personalized Ayurvedic therapies, herbal steam treatments, yoga sessions, infinity pool relaxation, or private beachside leisure experiences arranged within the resort. Unlike crowded beach holidays, the itinerary emphasizes comfort, quiet surroundings, and meaningful relaxation rather than packed activity schedules.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy sunset dining beside the sea featuring Kerala seafood specialties and coastal cuisine prepared using fresh local ingredients and traditional flavors. The calm atmosphere of Kovalam creates one of the most rejuvenating sections of the journey. Overnight stay in Kovalam.

Day 18 Kovalam to Kochi

After breakfast, continue northward toward the historic coastal city of Kochi. The scenic drive passes tropical villages, rivers, backwater regions, and coconut-lined coastal roads while offering a final glimpse into Kerala’s relaxed countryside atmosphere.

Upon arrival, check into a luxury heritage hotel located within the Fort Kochi district. Compared to the slower beach environment of Kovalam, Kochi introduces a more artistic and multicultural atmosphere shaped by centuries of maritime trade involving Portuguese, Dutch, Arab, and British influence.

Later in the afternoon, guests may enjoy a relaxed heritage walk through Fort Kochi where colonial architecture, old churches, spice warehouses, Chinese Fishing Nets, and waterfront cafés create a sophisticated coastal setting. Evening remains free for fine dining and overnight stay in Kochi.

Day 19 Kochi Leisure and Cultural Experiences

Morning begins with breakfast followed by another intentionally relaxed day allowing guests to absorb Kochi’s artistic atmosphere at a slower pace. Guests may choose optional activities including spice market visits, art gallery exploration, café experiences, wellness sessions, or quiet photography walks through the colonial streets.

Kochi’s cultural identity blends naturally with the philosophy of slow travel where travelers spend meaningful time within destinations instead of rushing through attractions. The city’s calm waterfront atmosphere and heritage districts create an elegant setting for the final days of the journey.

Later in the evening, guests may attend a traditional Kathakali dance performance or enjoy a curated farewell dining experience inspired by Kerala’s coastal and spice-rich cuisine. Overnight stay in Kochi.

Day 20 Kochi Slow Leisure Day

The day has been intentionally kept completely flexible allowing guests to relax before departure. After breakfast, travelers may enjoy private wellness therapies, shopping, sunset cruises, cooking sessions, or simply spend quiet time within the heritage hotel.

Unlike fast-paced itineraries, this luxury slow travel journey concludes gradually, ensuring guests leave refreshed rather than exhausted. Kochi’s tropical atmosphere and slower rhythm create the perfect conclusion after covering mountains, forests, backwaters, beaches, and heritage cities across South India.

Later in the evening, guests may enjoy their final sunset beside the Arabian Sea while reflecting upon the diverse landscapes and experiences covered throughout the journey. Overnight stay in Kochi.

Day 21 Departure from Kochi

After breakfast, private transfer arrangements are provided to Kochi International Airport for onward departure. Assistance is offered throughout the checkout and transfer process to ensure a smooth conclusion to the luxury slow travel experience.

During the past twenty-one days, travelers have explored wildlife forests, royal heritage cities, tea plantations, mountain retreats, tropical backwaters, peaceful beaches, and cultural destinations across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala while enjoying carefully paced luxury hospitality throughout the itinerary.

With unforgettable memories of scenic drives, plantation landscapes, luxury wellness retreats, Kerala backwaters, Nilgiri Hills, Kabini forests, and authentic South Indian culture, the tour concludes in Kochi.   because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

Our trip with Top Indian Holidays was fantastic. Our family of five, including 3 small kids, visited the Golden Triangle of India. It was a wonderful cultural experience. I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
