LGBTQ+ Friendly Royal Rajasthan Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Delhi

Welcome to India - The Royal Journey Begins

Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, your personal representative will be waiting with a name board to escort you to your private air-conditioned vehicle. You will be transferred smoothly to your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming hotel in Delhi.

The rest of the day is entirely yours - rest, refresh, and begin to feel the energy of one of the world's great capital cities. If you arrive early and feel like exploring, your driver can take you for an informal evening drive past the illuminated India Gate and through the elegant avenues of Lutyens' Delhi. Your guide will meet you this evening to introduce himself and brief you on the extraordinary Rajasthan journey that lies ahead.

Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi Sightseeing & Drive to Jaipur

A Morning with the Mughals - Then Onward to Rajasthan

After an early breakfast, your private guide takes you on a focused morning of sightseeing through Delhi - covering the highlights of both Old and New Delhi before setting out for Jaipur in the early afternoon.

Begin in Old Delhi with a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk - the magnificent ancient market street alive with spice merchants, silk shops, and centuries of living history. Visit the towering Jama Masjid - India's largest mosque - and pay your respects at the serene Raj Ghat - Gandhi's memorial beside the Yamuna River.

Move into New Delhi for visits to the soaring Qutub Minar - the world's tallest brick minaret - and the hauntingly beautiful Humayun's Tomb - the garden mausoleum that established the architectural language of the Mughal Empire. Drive past India Gate and the grand ceremonial boulevards of Lutyens' Delhi before heading to your vehicle for the drive to Jaipur - approximately 5 hours.

Arrive in Jaipur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel in the Pink City. Jaipur's rose-pink architecture glows warmly in the evening light - a beautiful first introduction to the royal world of Rajasthan that awaits you.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 3 Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing

The Pink City - Forts, Palaces & Royal Markets

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, your private guide takes you on a full and deeply enjoyable day of sightseeing through Jaipur - the magnificent planned city founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and one of India's finest and best-preserved historic cities.

Begin with the iconic Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - Jaipur's most recognizable landmark, its extraordinary facade of 953 latticed windows creating an image of such intricate, delicate beauty that it has become one of the most photographed buildings in all of India. Drive to the commanding Amber Fort - a magnificent hilltop palace complex of Rajput grandeur, its Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors) sparkling with a thousand reflections and its panoramic views over the surrounding hills and lake genuinely breathtaking. En route, pause at the ethereal Jal Mahal (Water Palace) - appearing to float serenely on the surface of Man Sagar Lake in a setting of painterly, almost dreamlike beauty.

The afternoon brings visits to the magnificent City Palace - still partially home to the Jaipur royal family, its museums housing an extraordinary collection of royal costumes, weapons, manuscripts, and art - the remarkable Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing the world's largest stone sundial, and the Albert Hall Museum. End the day with a leisurely walk through Jaipur's famous heritage markets - block-print fabrics, blue pottery, Kundan jewellery, leather goods, and handcrafted Rajasthani treasures in an irresistible parade of color and craft.

This evening, dine at one of Jaipur's celebrated rooftop restaurants - looking out over the glowing pink rooftops of the old city as the stars appear above Rajasthan in a sky of extraordinary clarity.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 4 Jaipur to Jodhpur

From the Pink City to the Blue City

After breakfast and hotel checkout, your private vehicle departs for Jodhpur - approximately 5 to 6 hours through the beautiful, semi-arid landscapes of central Rajasthan. The journey itself is a pleasure - passing through small Rajasthani towns, fields of mustard and wheat, and the occasional ancient stepwell or cenotaph beside the road that serves as a quiet reminder of how deeply history saturates every corner of this extraordinary state.

Arrive in Jodhpur in the early afternoon and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming hotel - ideally a heritage property in the old city with views of the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort rising above the rooftops. Take the afternoon to rest, explore the area around your hotel, and begin to absorb the particular character of Jodhpur - a city that feels simultaneously ancient and alive, its labyrinthine old city lanes a constant revelation of blue-washed walls, carved wooden doorways, and the sounds and smells of a city that has been continuously inhabited for nearly six centuries.

In the evening, take a walk through the old city as it comes alive at dusk - the blue-painted houses of Brahmin families creating Jodhpur's extraordinary signature color that has given it the name the Blue City. Find a rooftop restaurant with views of the illuminated Mehrangarh Fort - one of the great sights of Rajasthan by night, the fort rising sheer from its volcanic rock outcrop and lit golden against the dark sky.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 5 Full Day Jodhpur Sightseeing

Mehrangarh Fort, the Blue City & the World's Most Magnificent Palace Hotel

After breakfast, your private guide takes you on a full and thoroughly rewarding day of exploration through Jodhpur - one of Rajasthan's most dramatic and visually extraordinary cities.

Begin with the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort - rising 125 meters above the city on a sheer volcanic rock outcrop, its massive walls and towers visible from every part of Jodhpur, its museums housing one of the finest collections of royal artefacts, weapons, paintings, and palanquins in all of Rajasthan. The fort's internal palaces - the Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), the Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), and the Sheesh Mahal (Glass Palace) - are of extraordinary beauty, their carved sandstone screens and painted ceilings reflecting the finest traditions of Rajput royal architecture. The views from the fort's ramparts over the blue-washed city below and the Thar Desert stretching to the horizon are genuinely breathtaking.

Descend from the fort to visit the beautiful Jaswant Thada - an exquisitely carved white marble cenotaph built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, its thin marble screens glowing translucent in the sunlight and its peaceful lakeside gardens making it one of Jodhpur's most romantic and photogenic spots. Continue through the old city lanes - a wonderful, unhurried walk through the blue-washed heart of Jodhpur, past spice markets, lac bangle makers, textile merchants, and the ordinary, beautiful street life of a city that has been living and trading here for six hundred years.

The afternoon brings a very special experience - a visit to the extraordinary Umaid Bhawan Palace. Built between 1928 and 1943 by Maharaja Umaid Singh as a famine relief project that employed 3,000 local craftsmen for 15 years, Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the world's last great palace buildings - 347 rooms of golden Chittar sandstone rising from the desert in a style that blends Art Deco with traditional Rajput architecture in a combination of breathtaking grandeur and curiously intimate beauty. Part of the palace is still home to the Jodhpur royal family. Part operates as a Taj Luxury Hotel - consistently ranked among the finest hotels in the world and known for its warm, inclusive welcome to all guests including LGBTQ+ couples and travelers.

Even if you are not staying at Umaid Bhawan, a visit to its museum and gardens is an experience of genuine grandeur and historical fascination.

End the day with dinner at a rooftop restaurant with views of the illuminated fort - Jodhpur by night is one of Rajasthan's most spectacular sights.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 6 Jodhpur to Jaisalmer

Into the Golden Desert - The Mirage City Awaits

After breakfast and hotel checkout, your private vehicle departs for Jaisalmer - approximately 4 to 5 hours through the increasingly dramatic landscapes of the western Thar Desert. As you drive west from Jodhpur, the landscape gradually transforms - the green fields and rocky hills of central Rajasthan giving way to the flat, golden, semi-arid expanse of the desert, the horizon widening, the light becoming more intense, and the sense of approaching somewhere genuinely remote and genuinely extraordinary growing with every kilometer.

Arrive in Jaisalmer in the early afternoon and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming hotel - ideally a heritage haveli property within or close to the old city, its carved sandstone walls and rooftop terraces offering views of the Golden Fort rising above the rooftops in the afternoon sun.

Jaisalmer is one of those rare places that exceeds every expectation - a medieval desert city of golden sandstone that glows amber and gold in the afternoon light, its 12th-century fort rising from the flat desert like a vision from a fairy tale, its narrow lanes lined with elaborately carved havelis whose stone lacework rivals anything in India for sheer delicacy and artistry. For LGBTQ+ travelers who love architecture, history, and the romance of genuinely remote and beautiful places - Jaisalmer is a revelation.

After checking in, spend the late afternoon exploring the streets around your hotel before an early dinner in preparation for the evening's most extraordinary experience.

Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 7 Full Day Jaisalmer & Sunset Desert Safari

The Golden Fort, Ancient Havelis & Stars Over the Thar Desert

After breakfast, your private guide takes you on a full day of exploration through Jaisalmer - beginning with the extraordinary Jaisalmer Fort itself.

Unlike most Indian forts - which are visited as historical monuments by day and abandoned at night - Jaisalmer Fort is one of the world's few living forts, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has been continuously inhabited for 800 years and still houses approximately 3,000 people within its walls - families, restaurants, hotels, temples, and shops existing side by side within the same medieval ramparts that have stood since 1156 AD. Walking through the fort's narrow lanes is one of the most atmospheric and genuinely transporting experiences in all of India - a feeling of having stepped not just into another place but into another century entirely.

Within the fort, visit the beautifully carved Jain Temples - a cluster of seven interconnected temples built between the 12th and 16th centuries, their interiors of extraordinary white marble carving among the finest examples of Jain temple art in existence. Continue to the Royal Palace (Raj Mahal) - the former residence of the Jaisalmer rulers - for its museum of royal artefacts and its spectacular views over the desert city.

After the fort, visit the remarkable Patwon Ki Haveli - the largest and most elaborately carved of Jaisalmer's famous merchant havelis, its five interconnected mansions built by a wealthy merchant family between 1800 and 1860 and covered from base to roofline in stone lacework of breathtaking intricacy and delicacy. Continue to Nathmal Ki Haveli - another masterpiece of carved sandstone - and the beautiful Salim Singh Ki Haveli, its distinctive peacock-shaped upper storey one of Jaisalmer's most recognizable architectural images.

In the late afternoon, your vehicle takes you out of the city to the magnificent Sam Sand Dunes - the most spectacular of the Thar Desert's dune fields, approximately 40 kilometers from Jaisalmer. As the sun begins its descent toward the desert horizon, mount your camel and ride out into the dunes for a sunset camel safari - one of the most romantic and genuinely unforgettable experiences that Rajasthan offers. The silence of the desert, the vast golden sweep of the dunes, the extraordinary colors of the Thar Desert sunset - orange, crimson, purple, and finally the deep blue of desert night - and the appearance of more stars than you have ever seen in your life above a sky uncontaminated by light pollution - all combine to create an experience of rare and lasting beauty.

Return to Jaisalmer for dinner beneath the stars - your guide can arrange a traditional Rajasthani dinner at a desert camp if you wish.

Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 8 Jaisalmer to Udaipur

From the Golden Desert to the City of Lakes

After breakfast and hotel checkout, your private vehicle begins the long but scenic drive to Udaipur - approximately 7 to 8 hours through the heart of Rajasthan, with comfortable rest stops and a lunch break along the way. This is a journey through Rajasthan's interior - passing through small towns, ancient stepwells, temple complexes, and the constantly changing, constantly beautiful landscape of this extraordinary state.

Arrive in Udaipur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel. The moment you arrive in Udaipur - particularly if your hotel has views of the lakes, the palaces, and the Aravalli Hills rising beyond the city - the effect is immediate and overwhelming. Udaipur is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful cities on earth. Its lakes, its white marble palaces, its painted havelis, its rooftop restaurants, and its extraordinary concentration of luxury heritage properties have made it the undisputed romantic capital of India - and among gay and lesbian travelers who choose Rajasthan for a honeymoon or a romantic holiday, Udaipur is almost always the highlight of the entire journey.

Settle in, take a walk along the lake shore as the evening light fades over the water, and dine at your hotel or at one of Udaipur's celebrated lakeside restaurants - your first evening in this extraordinary city.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 9 Full Day Udaipur Sightseeing

The Most Romantic City in India - Palaces, Lakes & Pure Beauty

After breakfast, your private guide takes you on a full and genuinely wonderful day of exploration through Udaipur - the City of Lakes, the Venice of the East, and the most consistently romantic destination in all of India.

Begin with the magnificent City Palace - the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, its white marble and granite walls rising directly from the eastern shore of Lake Pichola in a succession of courtyards, terraces, balconies, and royal apartments that took nearly 400 years and a succession of Maharanas to complete. The City Palace Museum houses an extraordinary collection of royal paintings, glass mosaics, Chinese porcelain, and Rajput artefacts that tells the story of the Mewar dynasty - one of the oldest and most storied royal families in all of India - with genuine depth and fascination.

From the City Palace, make your way to the Jagdish Temple - Udaipur's largest and most beautiful temple, its intricate carved exterior and vibrantly active daily worship making it one of the most genuine and accessible temple experiences in Rajasthan. Continue to the beautiful Saheliyon Ki Bari (Garden of the Maidens) - an 18th-century royal garden of lotus pools, marble elephants, fountains, and flowering trees, built by Maharana Sangram Singh II for the ladies of the royal household and today one of Udaipur's most peaceful and photogenic spots.

The afternoon's highlight is a boat ride on Lake Pichola - one of the most romantic experiences available anywhere in India. Your private boat glides across the mirror-still waters of the lake, past the legendary Taj Lake Palace - the extraordinary white marble island palace that appears to float on the surface of the lake, accessible only by boat, and consistently ranked among the most romantic hotels in the entire world - and to the beautiful Jag Mandir Island Palace - where Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan once took refuge as a young prince and which today offers a magnificent terrace restaurant above the lake for lunch or tea.

As the sun begins to set over the Aravalli Hills and the light turns golden on the lake and the palaces above it, make your way to one of Udaipur's celebrated rooftop restaurants - Ambrai Restaurant on the western shore, with its unobstructed view of the City Palace, the Lake Palace, and the entire panorama of Udaipur reflected in the lake at sunset, is one of the most beautiful dining settings in all of India.

This evening, allow yourself to simply be present in one of the world's most beautiful places - with someone you care about, or simply with the profound satisfaction of a traveler who has found exactly what they were looking for.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 10 Udaipur Leisure Day & Local Exploration

Art, Craft & the Hidden Corners of the City of Lakes

Today is deliberately kept free of structured sightseeing - a day to explore Udaipur at your own pace, to revisit the places that moved you most, or to discover the city's quieter, less-visited treasures at leisure.

Udaipur rewards the unhurried traveler. The old city lanes - particularly the area around Jagdish Temple and the ghats of Lake Pichola - are full of art galleries, craft workshops, miniature painting studios, and small boutiques selling Rajasthani textiles, silver jewellery, and handcrafted leather goods. Udaipur is particularly famous for its tradition of miniature painting - a highly refined artistic tradition practiced by master artists whose families have painted in this style for generations - and a visit to one of the city's painting studios, where you can watch artists at work and perhaps commission a small original piece, is one of the most rewarding and personal souvenirs available anywhere in Rajasthan.

If wellness is your preference, many of Udaipur's finest heritage hotels and spas offer Ayurvedic treatments, yoga sessions, and traditional Rajasthani massages - a deeply relaxing and genuinely restorative way to spend a day in a city of such beauty. Your guide can arrange bookings at the best spa facilities in the city with advance notice.

This evening, consider a cultural performance - Udaipur's Bagore Ki Haveli hosts a nightly program of traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance that is among the most colorful and enjoyable cultural experiences in the state.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 11 Udaipur Departure

Farewell from the City of Lakes - Until Rajasthan Calls You Back

Enjoy a final leisurely breakfast at your hotel - perhaps on a terrace with lake views, watching the morning light move across the water and the white palaces above it in the particular golden clarity of a Rajasthan morning. Take your time. There is genuinely no more beautiful way to begin a final day than breakfast in Udaipur.

The morning is free for any last-minute exploration - a final boat ride, a return to a favourite gallery or restaurant, a last walk along the lake shore, or simply a quiet hour in the beautiful courtyard of your heritage hotel.

At the designated time, your private vehicle transfers you to Udaipur Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. You leave Rajasthan having seen it at its most royal, its most dramatic, its most intimate, and its most beautiful - a journey through a land of extraordinary magnificence that has welcomed travelers, pilgrims, merchants, and lovers for a thousand years and continues to do so with a warmth and a grandeur that is entirely, unmistakably its own.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
