LGBTQ+ Friendly Classical Rajasthan Grand Tour

13N/14D   Fully Guided Tours   Private Car

Delhi - Mandawa - Bikaner - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur - Udaipur - Jaipur - Agra

Trip Overview

Some travelers come to Rajasthan for a week and leave knowing they have only touched the surface. This tour is for those who want to go all the way - to see Rajasthan not just in its famous highlights but in its full, magnificent, extraordinary entirety. The 13 Nights / 14 Days LGBTQ+ Friendly Classical Rajasthan Grand Tour is the most complete Rajasthan experience available - a journey that covers nine destinations across the full breadth of this extraordinary state, from the painted havelis of Mandawa in the north to the lake palaces of Udaipur in the south, from the golden desert city of Jaisalmer in the west to the pink palaces of Jaipur in the east - with the eternal romance of Agra's Taj Mahal as the grand finale.

This is a tour for travelers who travel seriously - who want to understand a place, not just photograph it. Who want to arrive in each city with enough time to explore it properly, to find the quiet corners that the day-trippers never reach, to eat in the local restaurants, to watch the evening light change on the architecture, and to wake up in a beautiful heritage hotel knowing that the day ahead holds something genuinely new and genuinely extraordinary.

For LGBTQ+ travelers in particular, a tour of this length and depth offers something that shorter trips cannot - the time to genuinely connect with India, to move past the surface of a culture of extraordinary complexity and richness, and to discover the many ways in which this ancient civilization has always understood and accommodated the full spectrum of human identity and experience.

Every hotel on this tour has been personally selected for its heritage character and LGBTQ+ welcoming attitude. Every guide and driver is experienced with international gay and lesbian travelers. And the itinerary has been designed with a pace that feels generous rather than rushed - two nights in most destinations, three in the most rewarding - so that you arrive at each place feeling excited rather than exhausted.

Rajasthan in its entirety. This is it.

LGBTQ+ Friendly Classical Rajasthan Grand Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Delhi

Welcome to India - The Grand Journey Begins

Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, your representative will be waiting with a personalized name board to escort you to your private air-conditioned vehicle. Transfer to your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming hotel in Delhi. The rest of the day is at your leisure - rest, freshen up, and let the energy of this extraordinary city settle around you. Your guide will meet you this evening to brief you on the remarkable 14-day journey that lies ahead.

Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi Sightseeing & Drive to Mandawa

Mughal Monuments - Then Into the Painted Desert

After an early breakfast, your private guide takes you on a focused morning of Delhi sightseeing - the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk rickshaw ride in Old Delhi, the serene Raj Ghat, the soaring Qutub Minar and the sublime Humayun's Tomb in New Delhi. Drive past India Gate and through the grand avenues of Lutyens' Delhi before setting off for Mandawa in the early afternoon - approximately 5 hours from Delhi through the landscapes of northern Rajasthan.

Mandawa is one of Rajasthan's most unexpected and most rewarding surprises - a small town in the Shekhawati region whose 18th and 19th-century merchant havelis are covered from roofline to basement in extraordinary painted frescoes depicting everything from Mughal hunting scenes to early 20th-century images of cars, trains, and European women in hats. The Shekhawati merchants who built these havelis were among the wealthiest in India - and they decorated their homes with a flamboyance and an artistic ambition that has left this small corner of Rajasthan with one of the most remarkable concentrations of outdoor fresco art in the world.

Arrive in Mandawa in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage property - ideally the beautifully restored Mandawa Castle or a comparable haveli hotel, its painted walls and carved sandstone architecture making it one of the most atmospheric places to stay in all of Rajasthan.

Overnight stay in Mandawa.

Day 3 Mandawa to Bikaner

The Painted Havelis - Then the Camel City

After breakfast, spend the morning exploring Mandawa's extraordinary painted havelis with your guide - the Chokhani Haveli, the Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, the Saraf Haveli, and the magnificent Mandawa Haveli are among the finest, their frescoed facades a riot of color, narrative, and artistic ambition that is genuinely unlike anything else in India. A walk through Mandawa's lanes is one of those quiet, unhurried travel pleasures that rewards the attentive traveler at every turn.

After this morning exploration, check out and drive to Bikaner - approximately 3 to 4 hours through the landscapes of northern Rajasthan. Arrive in the early afternoon and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel. Spend the late afternoon exploring Bikaner's beautiful old city - its narrow lanes, carved sandstone havelis, and ancient temples creating an atmosphere of considerable charm and historical richness.

Overnight stay in Bikaner.

Day 4 Full Day Bikaner Sightseeing

Junagarh Fort, Karni Mata & the Camel Research Farm

After breakfast, your guide takes you on a full and rewarding day through Bikaner - one of Rajasthan's most historically significant and least-visited royal cities, its rewards all the greater for being so rarely included on standard Rajasthan itineraries.

Begin with the magnificent Junagarh Fort - built in 1589 and never once conquered in its entire history, its walls enclosing a succession of extraordinary palaces of red sandstone and white marble. The Anup Mahal and Badal Mahal are among the finest interior spaces in Rajasthan - their carved columns, painted ceilings, and gilded decoration of extraordinary beauty and historical significance.

After the fort, visit the famous Karni Mata Temple at Deshnok - where thousands of rats are considered sacred and move freely through the temple complex in one of India's most genuinely unusual and fascinating religious experiences. In the afternoon, visit the National Research Centre on Camels - the world's only camel research farm, home to hundreds of camels of different breeds and an unexpectedly fascinating and enjoyable afternoon excursion that is particularly popular among international travelers.

End the day with a walk through Bikaner's old city havelis - their carved red sandstone facades and elaborately decorated interiors rivaling anything in Jaisalmer for decorative ambition and artistry.

Overnight stay in Bikaner.

Day 5 Bikaner to Jaisalmer

Into the Golden Desert - The Mirage City Awaits

After breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Jaisalmer - approximately 5 to 6 hours through the increasingly dramatic landscapes of the western Thar Desert. As you drive west, the landscape transforms - the green fields and rocky hills of northern Rajasthan giving way to the flat, golden, semi-arid expanse of the desert, the horizon widening and the light intensifying with every kilometer.

Arrive in Jaisalmer in the early afternoon and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage haveli hotel - ideally a property within or close to the old city with rooftop views of the Golden Fort rising above the rooftops in the afternoon sun. Jaisalmer is one of those rare places that exceeds every expectation - a medieval desert city of golden sandstone that glows amber in the afternoon light, its 12th-century fort rising from the flat desert like a vision from another age, its narrow lanes lined with elaborately carved havelis of breathtaking intricacy.

Spend the late afternoon exploring the streets around your hotel before dinner on a rooftop with views of the illuminated fort - one of the most beautiful sights in all of Rajasthan.

Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 6 Full Day Jaisalmer & Sunset Desert Safari

The Golden Fort, Ancient Havelis & Stars Over the Thar

After breakfast, your guide takes you on a full day of exploration through Jaisalmer - beginning with the extraordinary Jaisalmer Fort itself. A living, breathing community of approximately 3,000 people still inhabiting its 12th-century walls, the fort's narrow golden lanes lead past homes, restaurants, temples, and the beautifully carved Jain Temples - whose white marble interiors are among the finest examples of Jain temple art in India. Visit the Royal Palace for its museum and spectacular desert views.

After the fort, explore the finest of Jaisalmer's famous merchant havelis - Patwon Ki Haveli, the largest and most elaborately decorated, its five interconnected mansions covered in stone lacework of extraordinary delicacy - Nathmal Ki Haveli, and the distinctive Salim Singh Ki Haveli with its peacock-shaped upper storey.

In the late afternoon, your vehicle takes you to the Sam Sand Dunes for a sunset camel safari - riding out into the desert as the sun begins its extraordinary descent toward the horizon, the dunes turning from gold to amber to deep copper in the fading light. Return to Jaisalmer after sunset for dinner - traditional Rajasthani food, perhaps accompanied by folk musicians if you wish.

Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 7 Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

From the Golden Desert to the Blue City

After a leisurely breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Jodhpur - approximately 4 to 5 hours through the landscapes of western Rajasthan. En route, stop at the beautiful Kheechan village - famous for its extraordinary winter congregation of thousands of Demoiselle Cranes that descend on the village fields every year, one of India's most spectacular and least-known wildlife spectacles - and the ancient Osian temples, a remarkable cluster of 8th and 9th-century Hindu and Jain temples rising from the desert plain in a setting of considerable solitary beauty.

Arrive in Jodhpur in the early afternoon and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel with views of Mehrangarh Fort. Spend the late afternoon exploring the blue city lanes at your own pace - the extraordinary blue-washed houses creating Jodhpur's signature color in every direction. Dinner this evening at a rooftop restaurant with illuminated fort views.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 8 Full Day Jodhpur Sightseeing

Mehrangarh Fort, the Blue City & Umaid Bhawan Palace

After breakfast, your guide takes you on a full and deeply rewarding day through Jodhpur. Begin with the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort - rising 125 meters above the city on a sheer volcanic rock outcrop, its internal palaces of extraordinary beauty housing one of the finest collections of royal artefacts in Rajasthan. The views from the ramparts over the blue-washed city below and the Thar Desert stretching to the horizon are genuinely spectacular.

Visit the beautiful Jaswant Thada - the exquisitely carved white marble cenotaph whose thin marble screens glow translucent in the sunlight - and walk through the old city lanes for a genuine encounter with the blue heart of Jodhpur. The afternoon brings a visit to the extraordinary Umaid Bhawan Palace - 347 rooms of golden Chittar sandstone, one of the world's last great palace buildings, its Art Deco grandeur and royal scale making it one of the most impressive buildings in all of Rajasthan.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 9 Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur

Through the Aravalli Hills to the City of Lakes

After breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Udaipur - approximately 5 to 6 hours through the beautiful landscapes of southern Rajasthan. Today's drive includes the magnificent Ranakpur Jain Temples - the extraordinary 15th-century marble temple supported by 1,444 individually carved pillars, not one identical to any other, its interior a forest of white marble columns illuminated by shafts of light falling through carved screens. It is one of the most beautiful architectural interiors in India and a perfect stop between the drama of Jodhpur and the romance of Udaipur.

Also stop at the beautiful Kumbhalgarh Fort - the second most important fort in Rajasthan after Chittorgarh, its walls stretching 36 kilometers across the Aravalli Hills - the second longest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China - and its interior housing over 360 temples and the birthplace of the great Maharana Pratap. The fort's hilltop setting and sweeping views over the surrounding hills and valleys are extraordinary.

Arrive in Udaipur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming lake-facing heritage hotel. The view of Lake Pichola and its floating palaces in the evening light announces Udaipur's extraordinary quality of beauty immediately and completely.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 10 Full Day Udaipur Sightseeing

The Most Romantic City in India - Palaces, Lakes & Sunset

After a leisurely breakfast, your guide takes you on a beautiful and well-paced day of exploration through Udaipur. Begin with the magnificent City Palace - the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, its museums housing an extraordinary collection of royal paintings, crystal, and Rajput artefacts. Visit the beautiful Jagdish Temple and the enchanting Saheliyon Ki Bari - its lotus pools, marble fountains, and flowering trees creating one of Udaipur's most peaceful and romantic settings.

The afternoon's centerpiece is your private sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola - gliding silently past the legendary Taj Lake Palace and to the beautiful Jag Mandir Island Palace for drinks on the lakeside terrace as the entire panorama of Udaipur spreads across the water before you. As the sun sets over the Aravalli Hills and the palaces begin to glow with their evening illumination, this is a moment of rare and lasting beauty.

Dinner this evening at Ambrai - with its unobstructed view of the illuminated City Palace and Lake Palace across the water - or at your hotel's finest dining setting.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 11 Udaipur Leisure & Local Exploration

Art, Craft & the City at Your Own Pace

A free day in Udaipur - to explore the old city lanes, visit miniature painting studios, browse the silver jewellery shops and craft boutiques around Jagdish Temple, indulge in an Ayurvedic spa treatment at your hotel, or simply sit on your lake-view terrace and do absolutely nothing in the most enjoyable possible way. This evening, attend the cultural performance at Bagore Ki Haveli - traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance in a beautiful 18th-century haveli setting.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 12 Udaipur to Jaipur

From the City of Lakes to the Pink City

After breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Jaipur - approximately 5 to 6 hours through the beautiful landscapes of central Rajasthan. En route, stop at the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort - the largest fort in India, its towers, temples, and palaces spread across a massive hilltop plateau, deeply associated with the most celebrated stories of Rajput honor, love, and sacrifice. The fort's Vijay Stambha (Tower of Victory) and the beautiful Rani Padmini Palace - associated with the legendary queen whose beauty inspired centuries of poetry - are among its most remarkable monuments.

Arrive in Jaipur in the evening and check into your pre-selected LGBTQ+ welcoming heritage hotel in the Pink City. After the watery softness of Udaipur, Jaipur's rose-pink architecture and energetic street life feel exhilarating again - a reminder of how varied and how inexhaustible Rajasthan's pleasures really are.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 13 Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing

The Pink City - A Magnificent Final Rajasthan Chapter

After breakfast, your guide takes you on a full and deeply enjoyable day through Jaipur - the magnificent planned city of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Begin with the iconic Hawa Mahal for photographs, drive to the commanding Amber Fort - its Sheesh Mahal sparkling with a thousand mirror reflections - and pause at the ethereal Jal Mahal on Man Sagar Lake.

The afternoon brings visits to the magnificent City Palace, the extraordinary Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory, and a leisurely walk through Jaipur's famous heritage markets - block-print fabrics, blue pottery, Kundan jewellery, and Rajasthani handicrafts in an irresistible parade of color and craft. This evening, a final Rajasthan dinner at one of Jaipur's celebrated rooftop restaurants - the Pink City glowing below you in the night, Nahargarh Fort lit above, the journey almost complete.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 14 Jaipur to Agra & Departure

The Taj Mahal - The Perfect Grand Finale

After an early breakfast and checkout, your private vehicle departs for Agra - approximately 5 hours with a wonderful en route stop at Fatehpur Sikri - the perfectly preserved abandoned Mughal capital whose magnificent mosques, palaces, and the soaring Buland Darwaza represent some of the finest Mughal architecture outside of Agra itself.

Arrive in Agra and head straight to the Taj Mahal - the most perfect possible finale to 14 days of extraordinary Rajasthan travel. After all the forts, palaces, desert cities, lake palaces, painted havelis, and marble temples - standing before the Taj Mahal feels like an arrival at something that transcends all of it. The world's most perfect building. The world's greatest monument to love. A fitting end to a grand tour of India's most magnificent state.

After the Taj Mahal, visit the formidable Agra Fort before transferring to Agra Railway Station or Airport for your onward journey - or continuing to Delhi for international flight connections, approximately 3.5 hours by road.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
