Cultural North India Tour :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Delhi

Upon arrival at Delhi International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. India’s capital city introduces travelers to a remarkable combination of Mughal history, colonial architecture, luxury hospitality, and modern urban life. After your international journey, the day is intentionally planned at a relaxed pace to help you comfortably settle into the beginning of your cultural exploration across North India.

Depending on your arrival timing, enjoy a short orientation drive through some of New Delhi’s prominent districts where wide boulevards, diplomatic areas, and colonial buildings reflect the city’s historical transformation over different eras. The contrast between traditional and modern India becomes visible almost immediately, creating a fascinating first impression for international travelers.

Later in the evening, relax at your luxury hotel or enjoy dinner at one of Delhi’s renowned restaurants known for refined Indian cuisine. Your tour coordinator will also provide a detailed overview of the upcoming journey covering Rajasthan, Agra, Khajuraho, and Varanasi. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi Sightseeing

The morning begins with a guided exploration of Old Delhi where centuries-old markets, Mughal architecture, temples, and narrow trading lanes continue to preserve the atmosphere of historic India. Enjoy a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk while observing spice markets, street vendors, and local daily life unfolding around the bustling streets. You will also visit Jama Masjid, one of India’s grandest mosques built during the Mughal period.

Continue toward New Delhi where elegant colonial architecture and broad avenues create a completely different character from the old city. Drive past India Gate, Parliament House, and Rashtrapati Bhavan while your guide explains the political and historical significance of these landmarks. The changing architectural styles throughout Delhi provide a deeper understanding of India’s complex historical timeline.

Later in the afternoon, visit Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites admired for their artistic detail and architectural importance. Beautiful gardens, sandstone structures, and Persian-inspired designs make these monuments essential highlights of any Delhi cultural tour. Return to your hotel in the evening for overnight stay.

Day 3 Delhi to Jaisalmer

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan’s legendary desert city located near the Thar Desert. Upon arrival, proceed toward your heritage hotel while passing through golden sandstone streets, traditional havelis, and narrow lanes that reflect the city’s rich trading history. Jaisalmer immediately feels different from the larger cities due to its desert atmosphere and preserved medieval architecture.

Later in the afternoon, begin exploring the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, one of the very few living forts in the world where local families still reside within its ancient walls. Intricately carved Jain temples, traditional homes, artisan workshops, and hidden courtyards create an unforgettable walking experience through the historic fort complex.

The evening can be spent enjoying rooftop views overlooking the illuminated fort while tasting traditional Rajasthani cuisine. Desert sunsets, folk music, and the warm golden tones of the city create an atmosphere that remains especially memorable for international travelers visiting Rajasthan for the first time. Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 4 Jaisalmer Sightseeing

The morning begins with a deeper exploration of Jaisalmer’s remarkable heritage architecture including Patwon Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli. These beautifully decorated mansions showcase intricate stone carvings, lattice windows, and architectural details that reflect the prosperity of ancient desert traders. Walking through these structures offers insight into Rajasthan’s rich mercantile history.

Later, visit Gadisar Lake, a peaceful historic reservoir surrounded by temples, shrines, and stone gateways. The calm atmosphere near the water creates a pleasant contrast to the desert surroundings while offering excellent photography opportunities. Travelers often enjoy observing local life around the lake and interacting with artisans selling traditional handicrafts nearby.

In the evening, proceed toward the Sam Sand Dunes for a classic Thar Desert experience. Enjoy sunset views across the dunes followed by cultural performances featuring traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance. The combination of desert landscapes, local hospitality, and starlit skies creates one of the most iconic experiences of any Rajasthan luxury tour. Overnight stay in Jaisalmer.

Day 5 Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

After breakfast, depart for Jodhpur, famously known as the Blue City of Rajasthan. The scenic drive passes through desert villages, rural landscapes, and open stretches of the Thar region where travelers can observe traditional Rajasthani life away from tourist centers. Small settlements, camel carts, and colorful local attire continue to preserve the cultural identity of the desert region.

Arrive in Jodhpur by afternoon and check into your heritage-style hotel. Dominated by the massive Mehrangarh Fort rising dramatically above the city, Jodhpur presents an impressive blend of royal grandeur and old-world desert charm. Blue-painted houses surrounding the fort create one of Rajasthan’s most recognizable landscapes.

Later, explore the local markets near the Clock Tower area known for handicrafts, textiles, spices, and antiques. The lively atmosphere, traditional architecture, and local food stalls make the evening walk especially enjoyable for visitors interested in authentic cultural interaction. Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 6 Jodhpur Sightseeing

Begin the morning with a guided visit to Mehrangarh Fort, considered one of the finest forts in India. Massive gateways, royal palaces, museums, courtyards, and panoramic viewpoints reveal the grandeur of Rajasthan’s royal history. The fort’s elevated location also provides breathtaking views over the blue-colored houses spread across Jodhpur city below.

Continue sightseeing with a visit to Jaswant Thada, an elegant marble cenotaph built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Surrounded by peaceful gardens and small lakes, the monument creates a calm contrast to the dramatic architecture of Mehrangarh Fort. The fine marble craftsmanship and serene setting make it one of Jodhpur’s most admired attractions.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy leisure time exploring Jodhpur’s old lanes, artisan workshops, and traditional bazaars. Travelers often enjoy shopping for handmade textiles, leather products, antiques, and silver jewelry while interacting with local craftsmen. Return to your hotel in the evening for overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Day 7 Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur

After breakfast, begin your journey toward Udaipur while passing through the scenic Aravalli mountain region. En route, stop at Ranakpur Jain Temples, one of India’s most important Jain pilgrimage sites renowned for extraordinary marble architecture and intricate carvings. The temple complex remains especially admired for its beautifully sculpted pillars and peaceful spiritual atmosphere.

Continue the drive toward Udaipur, often called the City of Lakes due to its romantic lakeside setting and palace architecture. Compared to Rajasthan’s desert cities, Udaipur offers a softer and greener landscape surrounded by hills, water bodies, and elegant royal residences. The city has long remained associated with romance, luxury, and Rajput heritage.

Arrive by evening and check into your luxury heritage hotel overlooking the lake or surrounding hills. The remainder of the evening can be spent relaxing while enjoying views of illuminated palaces reflecting over the calm waters of Lake Pichola. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 8 Udaipur Sightseeing

The day begins with a guided sightseeing tour of Udaipur including the magnificent City Palace complex overlooking Lake Pichola. Beautiful courtyards, royal chambers, balconies, museums, and decorative interiors showcase the elegance of Mewar’s royal heritage. The palace’s elevated position also offers spectacular panoramic views across the lake and surrounding cityscape.

Later, visit Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon Ki Bari, both admired for their artistic details and peaceful atmosphere. Decorative fountains, marble pavilions, lotus pools, and gardens create a refreshing experience within the city’s royal surroundings. Udaipur’s slower pace and scenic beauty make it one of the most relaxing destinations in Rajasthan.

In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola while admiring the City Palace, Jag Mandir, and the famous Lake Palace illuminated beautifully during sunset hours. The calm waters, palace reflections, and surrounding hills create an unforgettable atmosphere that perfectly captures the romantic charm of Udaipur. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Day 9 Udaipur to Sardargarh

After breakfast, depart from Udaipur and continue toward Sardargarh, a lesser-known heritage destination located amidst the rural landscapes of Rajasthan. Unlike the larger royal cities, Sardargarh offers a quieter and more intimate experience where travelers can witness authentic countryside life, traditional villages, and untouched heritage surroundings. The scenic drive passes through agricultural regions, small settlements, and hilly terrain that reveal another side of Rajasthan beyond its famous tourist circuits.

Upon arrival, check into the historic Sardargarh Fort Heritage Hotel, an impressive property perched on elevated surroundings overlooking the countryside. The fort retains much of its original royal character through massive stone walls, traditional courtyards, antique interiors, and historic architecture. Staying within a heritage fort allows travelers to experience the atmosphere of Rajasthan’s aristocratic past in a more immersive manner.

The evening can be spent enjoying the peaceful environment of the fort while admiring sunset views across the surrounding rural landscapes. Traditional hospitality, candle-lit dining areas, and the calm setting create a memorable contrast compared to the busier royal cities visited earlier during the journey. Overnight stay in Sardargarh.

Day 10 Sardargarh to Jaipur

Following breakfast, begin your drive toward Jaipur, Rajasthan’s celebrated Pink City known for its royal palaces, bustling bazaars, and magnificent forts. The route gradually transitions from peaceful countryside landscapes toward one of India’s most vibrant cultural capitals. Along the way, travelers can observe changing scenery including traditional villages, camel carts, colorful turbans, and local roadside markets that continue to preserve Rajasthan’s strong cultural identity.

Arrive in Jaipur by afternoon and check into your luxury heritage hotel. Jaipur immediately impresses visitors through its pink-painted buildings, lively atmosphere, and grand royal architecture. The city combines history with modern energy while still preserving many of its traditional crafts, artisan communities, and royal customs.

Later in the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk through Jaipur’s colorful bazaars known for gemstones, block-print textiles, blue pottery, handcrafted jewelry, and traditional Rajasthani handicrafts. The vibrant markets provide excellent opportunities for cultural interaction and shopping. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 11 Jaipur Sightseeing

The morning begins with an excursion to Amber Fort, one of Rajasthan’s most iconic royal fortresses located amidst the Aravalli Hills. Massive gateways, decorative halls, mirrored chambers, royal courtyards, and detailed fresco work showcase the architectural brilliance of Rajput rulers. The elevated setting of the fort also offers panoramic views over surrounding hills and Maota Lake below.

After returning to the city, continue sightseeing with visits to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and the famous Hawa Mahal. The City Palace reflects Jaipur’s royal heritage through elegant courtyards and museums, while Jantar Mantar demonstrates India’s remarkable astronomical knowledge through giant scientific instruments built centuries ago.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional Rajasthani cultural dinner accompanied by folk music and dance performances. The rich flavors of regional cuisine, colorful costumes, and live performances create a memorable cultural experience that reflects Rajasthan’s festive spirit and hospitality. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 12 Jaipur to Agra

After breakfast, depart for Agra while passing through the changing landscapes of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. En route, visit Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital built by Emperor Akbar during the 16th century. Grand courtyards, royal halls, mosques, and palaces inside the complex reveal a remarkable blend of Persian, Islamic, and Indian architectural influences.

Continue toward Agra and check into your luxury hotel upon arrival. Agra remains one of India’s most internationally recognized destinations due to its association with the Mughal Empire and the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal. The city’s rich architectural heritage attracts travelers from around the world throughout the year.

Later in the evening, visit Mehtab Bagh located across the Yamuna River for a peaceful sunset view of the Taj Mahal. Softer evening light creates beautiful reflections and photographic opportunities away from daytime crowds. The calm atmosphere near the gardens offers an unforgettable first impression of India’s most celebrated monument. Overnight stay in Agra.

Day 13 Agra to Khajuraho

Early in the morning, visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise when the white marble monument glows beautifully under changing natural light. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal continues to stand as one of the world’s greatest symbols of love and architectural perfection. Intricate marble inlay work, symmetry, and elegant craftsmanship make the monument truly timeless.

After breakfast, continue exploring Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress once used as the primary residence of Mughal emperors. Royal audience halls, palace chambers, gardens, and riverfront balconies provide fascinating insights into the lifestyle and political history of the Mughal Empire.

Later, transfer to the railway station or airport for your onward journey toward Khajuraho. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax after the travel day. Known globally for its UNESCO-listed temples, Khajuraho represents one of India’s finest achievements in temple architecture and sculpture. Overnight stay in Khajuraho.

Day 14 Khajuraho Sightseeing

The morning begins with a guided exploration of Khajuraho’s famous temple complexes built by the Chandela dynasty between the 10th and 12th centuries. These temples are admired not only for their artistic excellence but also for their detailed sculptures representing spirituality, mythology, music, dance, and aspects of human life. The remarkable stone carvings continue to attract historians, architects, and art lovers from across the world.

Visit both the Western and Eastern Group of Temples where beautifully sculpted walls and towering spires reflect extraordinary craftsmanship from medieval India. Contrary to common perception, the temples represent far more than erotic sculpture and instead portray a broader understanding of life, devotion, creativity, and philosophy during that era.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy leisure time exploring the peaceful surroundings of Khajuraho. Compared to larger Indian cities, the town offers a calm atmosphere ideal for slow-paced cultural travel. Travelers often enjoy relaxing at their resort while reflecting on the artistic richness witnessed during the temple visits. Overnight stay in Khajuraho.

Day 15 Khajuraho to Varanasi

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world and among India’s most sacred spiritual destinations. Located on the banks of the River Ganges, Varanasi presents a completely different atmosphere compared to Rajasthan’s royal cities and Khajuraho’s temple landscapes. Religion, rituals, music, philosophy, and daily life remain deeply interconnected throughout the city.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel before proceeding toward the ghats in the evening. The ancient riverside steps lining the Ganges remain at the heart of Varanasi’s spiritual identity and continue to attract pilgrims from across India every day.

At sunset, attend the famous Ganga Aarti ceremony where priests perform synchronized rituals with lamps, incense, chants, and traditional instruments beside the sacred river. The spiritual energy, illuminated ghats, and devotional atmosphere create one of the most unforgettable cultural experiences of any India heritage tour. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 16 Varanasi Sightseeing

Before sunrise, enjoy an early morning boat ride on the River Ganges while witnessing pilgrims performing rituals along the ghats. The slowly rising sunlight over the river creates a mystical atmosphere where ancient traditions continue uninterrupted after thousands of years. The morning scenes along the riverfront provide an authentic glimpse into the spiritual heart of India.

After breakfast, continue exploring Varanasi’s narrow lanes, hidden shrines, bustling bazaars, and important temples. Walking through the old city reveals how religion, local life, and traditional practices remain deeply connected within everyday routines. Your guide will explain the spiritual significance associated with different rituals performed across the city.

Later, proceed for an excursion to Sarnath, one of Buddhism’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after enlightenment. Ancient ruins, monasteries, museums, and peaceful gardens create a calm and reflective atmosphere away from the busy ghats of Varanasi. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 17 Varanasi to Delhi

Following breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Delhi. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. After several days filled with royal forts, temples, sacred ceremonies, and cultural exploration, the final evening in Delhi allows travelers time to relax before their international departure.

Depending on your interests, you may choose to enjoy shopping at luxury boutiques, visit local cafés, or simply relax at the hotel while reflecting on the journey across North India. The itinerary combines royal Rajasthan, Mughal heritage, sacred cities, artistic temples, and authentic local experiences in a seamless and meaningful way.

The evening is ideal for enjoying a farewell dinner while revisiting memories from Jaisalmer’s desert sunsets, Udaipur’s lakes, Jaipur’s royal palaces, Khajuraho’s temples, and Varanasi’s spiritual rituals. Overnight stay in Delhi.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
