Treasures of South India :- Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Chennai

Arrive at Chennai International Airport, where you’ll be greeted by your personal representative from Top Indian Holidays and escorted to your luxury hotel. Rest and settle in after your journey or take an optional short drive along Marina Beach, one of the world’s longest urban beaches.

Evening is free for leisure or a fine-dining dinner featuring classic Tamil coastal cuisine at a renowned city restaurant. Overnight stay in Chennai.

Day 2 Chennai to Mahabalipuram (Approx. 2 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive south to the ancient port city of Mahabalipuram, celebrated for its rock-cut temples and stone carvings dating back to the 7th century Pallava dynasty. Visit the Shore Temple, Arjuna’s Penance, and the iconic Five Rathas monuments under your private guide’s narration.

Check into a luxury beachfront resort and spend your evening gazing at the Bay of Bengal or enjoying a spa treatment. The calm sea breeze, combined with the scent of jasmine and stone heritage, sets a soothing tone.

Day 3 Mahabalipuram to Kochi (Flight via Chennai)

After breakfast, drive back to Chennai airport and take a flight to Cochin (Kochi) in Kerala. Upon arrival, meet your chauffeur and check into a colonial-style waterfront hotel, perhaps Brunton Boatyard or Grand Hyatt Kochi.

In the evening, stroll through Fort Kochi with its mix of Portuguese, Dutch, and British architecture. Visit the Chinese fishing nets, local art galleries, and spice markets before relaxing at a sunset café on the harbor.

Day 4 Kochi Sightseeing

Spend the morning exploring Cochin’s layered heritage: the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, and St. Francis Church, where Vasco da Gama was once buried. Your private guide shares stories of maritime trade that shaped this cosmopolitan city.

Later, enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance, followed by an optional dinner featuring Kerala seafood specialties and coconut-infused curries.

Day 5 Kochi to Munnar (Approx. 4 hrs drive)

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Munnar, a hill station nestled in the Western Ghats. The journey passes rubber plantations, waterfalls, and lush valleys. Check into a plantation-style luxury resort surrounded by tea gardens.

Spend your evening sipping locally grown tea on your private balcony or walking through misty trails. The cool mountain air offers a refreshing contrast to Kerala’s coast.

Day 6 Munnar Sightseeing

Begin the day with a visit to Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Continue to the Tea Museum to understand how Munnar became India’s tea capital.

Afternoon is at leisure—choose a nature trek, spa session, or high-tea experience overlooking rolling hills. Dinner will be at your resort, featuring farm-fresh local ingredients.

Day 7 Munnar to Thekkady (Approx. 3.5 hrs drive)

Depart Munnar for Thekkady, located in the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. On arrival, check into a forest-side resort offering luxury tents or villas amid greenery.

Later, take a guided boat ride on Lake Periyar, spotting elephants or deer near the shore. Evening options include a spice plantation visit or traditional martial-art (Kalaripayattu) show.

Day 8 Thekkady to Alleppey Backwaters (Approx. 4 hrs drive)

Drive down to Alleppey, the gateway to Kerala’s backwaters. Board a private luxury houseboat for an overnight cruise through narrow canals fringed with coconut trees.

Enjoy freshly cooked Kerala cuisine prepared by your onboard chef while you drift past village life, floating markets, and paddy fields. This serene journey is a highlight of the Treasures of South India Tour.

Day 9 Alleppey to Kumarakom (Approx. 1 hr drive)

After disembarking from the houseboat, a short drive brings you to Kumarakom, an elegant lakeside destination on Vembanad Lake. Check into a tranquil resort like The Zuri Kumarakom or Coconut Lagoon.

Spend your afternoon unwinding at the Ayurvedic spa or by the infinity pool. In the evening, enjoy a sunset cruise on the lake followed by a candle-lit dinner.

Day 10 Kumarakom to Mysore (Flight/Drive via Cochin & Bangalore)

Transfer to Cochin airport and fly to Bangalore, where your chauffeur will drive you onward to Mysore (approx. 3 hrs). Check into your palace-inspired luxury hotel such as the Lalitha Mahal Palace.

The evening is free to relax or enjoy an illuminated view of Mysore Palace, one of India’s most stunning royal residences, glowing with thousands of bulbs.

Day 11 Mysore Sightseeing

Visit Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hill Temple, and the vibrant Devaraja Market where fragrant sandalwood and silk fill the air. Your private guide adds insight into Mysore’s royal lineage and cultural artistry.

Later, explore St. Philomena’s Church or Brindavan Gardens, famous for its musical fountains. Dinner at the hotel caps a day steeped in regal elegance.

Day 12 Mysore to Bangalore (Approx. 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast, depart for Bangalore, known as India’s “Garden City.” En route, stop at Srirangapatna, once Tipu Sultan’s capital, to see his summer palace and fort.

Check into a modern luxury hotel in Bangalore. Spend your evening shopping for sandalwood crafts or enjoying fusion dining at one of the city’s stylish restaurants.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.    ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

Our trip with Top Indian Holidays was fantastic. Our family of five, including 3 small kids, visited the Golden Triangle of India. It was a wonderful cultural experience. I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.   We had an absolutely incredible experience touring India with Top Indian Holidays, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Our journey took us through Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, and Jaipur, and every part of the trip was seamlessly organised from start to finish. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra was, of course, a highlight, but the real standout moment was Ranthambore—where we were lucky enough to see tigers in the wild, something we’ll never forget. What really made the trip exceptional, though, was having the same driver with us throughout the entire journey.  ...Read More

On the advice of a friend we contacted Nand Singh Rathore at Top Indian Holidays in Jaipur. Nand worked with us and suggested a suitable tour over 5 days. We flew from Goa to Delhi and were met by our driver Ram Singh, whom stayed with us for the duration of the tour. Day 2 we visited the Taj Mahal with a very well informed local guide and spent 3 hours enjoying this special place. We then headed for Jaipur ( a 6 hour drive from Agra) stopping on the way at Chand Baori ( The Abhaneri Step Well). Day 3 in Jaipur we visited the Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, and the City Palace. We were also due to visit the Jantar Mantar but because of heavy rain and thunderstorms we missed this out. Day 4 we were picked up at our hotel for the 7 hour drive to Udaipur , stopping for lunch and comfort breaks on the way.  ...Read More
