Orchcha Fort

Around 16th century Orchcha has its royal capital as Indore. It was built and developed near Betwa River by Rudra Pratap Singh. The queen of Orchcha, Rani Ganeshi Bai built Chaturbhuj Temple during the reign of Akbar. It has intricate group of different architectural complexes enumerated below.

Chhatris Cenotaphs

Chattris are the structures which were built in the memory of dead also known as Cenotaphs. Peoples as per their devotion make these burial places as a memorable point giving them shape of umbrella type structure. In Orchcha there are 14 chattris built in the memory of famous rulers of Orchcha. They are combined and grouped at Kanchan Ghat of Betwa River.

Raj Mahal

Madhukar Shah in 17th century built this place. He was the sincere follower of Bir Singh Ju Deo. This place has beautiful interiors occupied with exquisite murals, paintings and many statues inspired and motivated from devotional figures. Exterior o the Raj Mahal is guarded on its four corners by chattris.

Jahangir Mahal

Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo was a great patron of art and architecture. When it was informed to raja Ju Deo that Jahangir is about to make visit to his capital he ordered to construct Jahangir Mahal exclusively to welcome Jahangir. It has congruently aligned pillars, chattris, trellis reflecting the lavish lifestyle of that era.

Rai Praveen Mahal

Rai Praveen was an artist and poetess in the assembly of Raja Indramani. She was beautiful and loyal paramour of the king. When Akbar heard about her qualities and beauty he captivated her and sent to Delhi. Later he was so impressed by her loyalty that he sent her back with honor. In her remembrance Raja indramani constructed this palace and dedicated to her.

Rama Raja Temple

This temple s the name suggest is dedicated to Lord Rama and life in Orchcha revolve around its fame and sacredness. It is built with marble and walls and windows are decorated with pink and yellow color making it shinning extraordinarily. The idol of Raja Rama was brought in this temple to be fixed in Chaturbhuj temple but due to some reason king ordered not to move those idols from ground and hence they remained fixed in this temple only.

Chaturbhuj Temple

This Temple was built Lotus emblems and other symbols of religious significance provide the delicate exterior ornamentation. It is settled on a massive platform of plane stone and beig located on height one has to climb a long range of stairs. There are stairs as well upon finding the correct one, visitors can catch a panoramic view of Chaturbhuj Temple.
