After meeting your driver, the route follows the beautiful Teesta River, which winds through deep valleys surrounded by forested hills. The gradual climb toward the mountains offers impressive views of rivers, small villages and terraced fields.

As the road ascends into the Himalayas, the landscape becomes cooler and greener. Travelers often stop at scenic viewpoints along the route where the river valley stretches across dramatic mountain scenery.

By afternoon you arrive in Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. Known for its clean streets, Buddhist culture and peaceful environment, Gangtok offers a welcoming introduction to the Himalayan lifestyle.

Day 2 Gangtok Local Sightseeing

Morning sightseeing begins with a visit to Rumtek Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in Sikkim. Located on a hillside surrounded by mountains, the monastery serves as an important spiritual center for Tibetan Buddhism.

The journey continues to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a renowned cultural institute preserving ancient Buddhist manuscripts, artifacts and traditional artwork. Visitors gain insight into the rich spiritual heritage of the region.

Later travelers visit Tashi View Point, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges. On clear days the snow-covered peaks appear dramatically across the distant horizon.

Day 3 Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Pass Excursion

Today’s excursion travels toward the high mountains above Gangtok. The road climbs through alpine forests and steep mountain slopes before reaching Tsomgo Lake, a beautiful glacial lake located at high altitude.

The lake reflects the surrounding mountains and changes color depending on the season. Snow-covered peaks and crisp mountain air create a breathtaking environment where travelers can walk along the lake’s edge and enjoy the scenery.

The journey continues toward Nathula Pass, an important historic trade route that once connected India and Tibet through the ancient Silk Route. The high-altitude pass offers impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

Day 4 Gangtok to Pelling

After breakfast the journey continues toward Pelling, a quiet hill town known for its spectacular views of Mount Kanchenjunga. The drive passes through forests, mountain ridges and small villages that highlight the peaceful beauty of Sikkim.

As the road climbs toward Pelling, distant snow-covered peaks become visible across the horizon. The calm atmosphere of the town makes it an excellent location for enjoying the Himalayan scenery.

After hotel check-in travelers can visit nearby viewpoints where the mountain landscapes become especially impressive during sunset.

Day 5 Pelling Sightseeing

The day begins with a visit to Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. The monastery stands on a hillside overlooking the valley and provides spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Nearby travelers explore the Rabdentse Ruins, the remains of the former capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim. Walking through the ruins offers insight into the history of the region while enjoying panoramic views of the valleys below.

Later visits include the impressive Singshore Bridge, one of the highest suspension bridges in the region, spanning a deep mountain gorge.

Day 6 Pelling to Darjeeling

The route today travels toward Darjeeling, one of the most famous hill stations in the Himalayas. The journey passes through scenic mountain landscapes before descending into tea plantation regions and then climbing again toward the hill town.

Darjeeling developed during the British colonial period and still retains its historic charm through colonial architecture, narrow streets and scenic viewpoints.

After arrival travelers can explore the lively markets, cafés and viewpoints that overlook the surrounding hills.

Day 7 Darjeeling Sightseeing

Early morning begins with a visit to Tiger Hill, one of the most famous sunrise viewpoints in the Himalayas. As the sun rises, the peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga glow with golden light, creating one of the most spectacular mountain views in India.

The tour continues with visits to Ghoom Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the region, and the nearby Batasia Loop, a unique railway loop offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills.

Later travelers visit the famous Darjeeling tea gardens, where the world-renowned tea is cultivated across rolling mountain slopes.

because my time with him in India was the most organized and exciting two weeks of my existence. I spent two weeks touring Southern India with a class of 16 American students and one professor who had never been to India, but thanks to Nand, the trip was seamless. He took us to incredible locations and called upon his personal connections to create opportunities for us and ensure that we were involved and informed. The entire time we were there, Nand made India feel like home. Somehow, he found a way for us to experience a range of incredible, new experiences in a completly unfamiliar place, while always ensuring our safety, comfort, and awareness. There is nothing Nand will not do to make your trip incredible. I cannot reccommend him enough.    ...Read More

My wife had a wonderful 28 day trip around the main sights in Rajasthan, The Golden Triangle and onwards to Varanasi. Nand organised the hotels to our budget, the driver and guides all of which were very good. Without his expertise this trip would not have been possible so a big "thank you"!  ...Read More

Our trip with Top Indian Holidays was fantastic. Our family of five, including 3 small kids, visited the Golden Triangle of India. It was a wonderful cultural experience. I cannot recommend them enough. The hotel accommodations were great (we stayed at the trident hotels). The food was delicious. Everyone we met in India was so friendly and kind. We always felt safe. Our tour guide Nand was super nice and informative. Our kids’ favorite stop was the Monkey Temple :) The rickshaw ride through Delhi was exciting and fun.  ...Read More

I’ve made such wonderful memories here in India. For a week, I had the chance to work on my sister’s women’s healthcare project in the village of Chandelao, and then spent a weekend in Jaipur. The accommodations have been top notch, and both our guides- Kartika and Nand Singh- have become our good friends. Top Indian Holidays is a tour company dedicated to exceptional service. Despite traveling alone with my sister, we felt so safe and at home. I truly have fallen in love with I did!  ...Read More

Last year, I travelled throughout northern India for one month as part of a course at Saint Mary’s College. We had such incredible adventures, thanks to our in country guide and friend Nand Singh Rathore. I was so impressed by his company’s commitment to excellent hospitality that I planned another visit this March. The main purpose of my trip was to work on a women’s healthcare project in Chandelao. Top Indian Holidays was so helpful in organizing transportation and accommodations. Our guide, Kartika, and our driver, Bhim, made sure we were well taken care of. My project would not have gone smoothly if it weren’t for them- and I am so proud to call them my new friends! My sister and I stayed an extra weekend in Jaipur, and Nand Singh was amazing as usual. He is so, so good to us!!! If you visit India through Top Indian Holidays, I assure you that you will have a safe, adventurous, and unforgettable experience!  ...Read More

Top Indian Holidays is THE BEST! We came to India for the Jain Festival in south India at Shravanabelagola (which happens only once every 12 years) and continued on to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and to sit for teachings with His Holiness, the XIV Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Top Indian Holidays handled all of the arrangements expertly, providing first rate service, excellent accommodations, transport, and first rate local guides! We've travelled through many, many countries with numerous very good travel agencies but none have provided the excellent service that Top Indian Holidays provided. They are committed to excellence.
